That’s crushing news about Kylington. I hope he’s ok.

"Vanishes" like ricardodw amid a Flames winning streak, or a playoff run.

“Be better” is condescending.

“Quit being a stupid bunt” may well need to be said.

In theory.

Lol I wasn't trying to be condescending, but he said according to Kylingtons Instagram he is touring Europe with a DJ. He isn't even in the picture, I am not sure how you to jump to that conclusion. The guy wearing the jersey is white, and so are the guys beside him lol.

Let the guy have his space and deal with whatever it is he is dealing with, and when he is ready he will be back.

So thought there was a new piece of news related to Oliver Kylington raised during Frank Seravelli's interview on the Fan960 this afternoon.

Frank mentioned that Kylington was in the player assistance program which i think was new news

So the team kept his privacy, air-tight.

Yet, here's ol Frank airing his laundry. Good on you, ya goof.

This shouldn’t be a surprise and isn’t really anything new.

But I’d be curious on the exact wording used. Specifically with regards to saying “treatment”.

The PAP offers help for a variety of reasons and still doesn’t really confirm what it is.

Quote:
The NHL/NHLPA player assistance program was created to assist players and their families in dealing with mental health, substance abuse and other issues.
Mental health and “other issues” is a pretty broad mandate.

Yeah I would not be happy if I were Tre.

He takes big steps to protect player confidentiality. Considering he was steamed about the Tkachuk rumors during the Eichel trade discussions, I'd be asking Frank where he got this extremely sensitive info (as Flames merely used a vague "personal leave" as the official story) and who the heck authorized its release to the media.

I just like that they are saying player assistance program. Wish Treliving added this back in the fall. No substance abuse, but dealing with family matter and in PAP. Fans care about the guy. Nice to hear he hasn't disappeared or is on his own, but has support.

Really dislike Frank breaking the news like this when the team has been so tight lipped. Frankly it's nobodies business but Oliver's, really disrespectful stuff.

The Flames used the "indefinite personal leave of absence" language for a reason - to specifically prevent any and all speculation of possibility that this is substance abuse related. Which Frank completely circumvented by using the word "treatment" in the same context as the Player Assistance Program.

This isn’t news and frank didn’t break anything.

It would be more of a surprise if a player was on leave for a personal matter and wasn’t using the PAP. It’s literally what it was created for.

Treatment doesn’t meant drugs. Someone seeing a therapist for mental health issues or a family matter is also receiving treatment.

This is all speculation based on a tweet summarizing a radio hit.

This is exactly why Treliving specifically said it wasn’t substance abuse related. Which people thought was weird. But it’s because the PAP has that included, and he was probably expecting some sort of tweet or news release similar to what Frank Sevelli has now said.

I hear you, but I think when Treliving said its a personal family issue and "not a substance abuse issue" that should stop speculation about drugs/alcohol. At least that is how I took it at the time.

This doesn't seem like much news and is good if anything. Although I read "treatment" pretty broadly.
