When were you last in Cape Breton for an extended visit? Is nostalgia clouding present day reality?

Trying to help keep you up at night

We go every summer. I def know about the drawbacks. Winters suck, there's no NHL or CFL, and health care is worse.

Trust me this will keep us awake for a while

I hope you like singing sea shanties and doing the polka because that's all there is to do there.

I heard years ago that you never marry a girl from the Maritimes, because they always want to go back!

You’re only allowed to eat Breton crackers with salt cod that has been rehydrated from kisses.

That whole Peddle Pub thing is such a good idea for the summer months...it's a shame they ruin it (for myself anyway) by making their patrons bring 11/10 energy and noise when they're on it. Like why do I have to market your business for you, just let me drink my beer and peddle in peace.

Pedal pubs are basically just slavery that you signed up for and agreed to pay to participate in.

If Alberta were a country in Europe it would be the largest by land size excluding the pariah state.

Anybody here live in the Bay Area? I enjoy meeting up with fellow CPers during my travels.

That's not true - they're REELS, not polkas!

Bonavista Bay? Yes, and I thought you'd never ask.

The opposite is true if you marry an Asian girl (import, not domestic), they start bringing the rest of their family over here. I'm not complaining though as I ended up with free child care and awesome Vietnamese home cooking from grandma

Too far. Sounds like a destination man-date.

On that topic, how do solo travellers make acquaintances while traveling?

All I have done is meet somebody from Vancouver who also couldn’t find the baggage claim at SFO.

What happened to DuffMan? He was one of my favourite posters. I saw an old post of his and he hasn't been active since the end of 2020

I seem to remember a thing happened. Can't quite recall the details, but I think he got agitated about something to do with Covid and got more and more edgy about it and then either announced he was leaving or got banned.

EDIT: Looking back it was guns. He started really getting bent out of shape about gun nuts (totally justified). Although nothing in his lasts posts suggest a sudden exit or banning.
