Mariners may have lost one of their more electric players tonight. Sam Haggerty had to be helped off the field after his stolen base in the 9th inning with an apparent groin injury.
I don’t know a ton about Haggerty but reading Mariners fan reactions and they are beyond devastated.
Thanks to the Tigers though. Going to be nice not having to send out all the starters to play in cool rainy conditions and risk injury.
This probably can't be overstated enough. We not only get to align our starting pitchers but also give players some well needed rest before the playoffs start!
That's nice to be able to saddle the pitching staff with an 18 inning day right before the start of the playoffs haha
Thank the maker these games mean absolutely NOTHING to the Jays.
Pitch guys like Kikuchi, White, Lawrence, Hatch, Kay, Merryweather, etc until the cows come home. Don't matter if they get caved in and we lose 20-0 either.

Basically those games will be forfeits. I guess they have to go through the charade anyway.
The Ms game just goes to show how important it was to put themselves in this spot though. Bottom 9, Haggerty gets on base as the potential tying run in a race for seeding and promptly destroys himself trying (successfully) to steal second. Cannot imagine he is available for the playoffs.
