With many players being assigned to the AHL today and the waived players set to join them, the first-ever Calgary Wranglers AHL camp will kick off tomorrow morning.
Figured I would put all this information in here as the Wranglers will be skating at Winsport and all the sessions will be open to the public, like development camp. So come on out if you're interested in checking out the likes of Pelletier, Zary, and Phillips as they embark to replicate or improve upon their Western Conference Final berth last season. It was quite the ride. I think they have a legit shot at bringing the Calder Cup to Calgary this year — the organization hasn't won it since 2001, when the Saint John Flames beat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Just received the practice schedule in my inbox about a half hour ago:
Furthermore, the Wranglers will be taking on the U of C Dinos men's team on October 11 at the Saddledome. Looking like a 6PM puck drop for that one.
Hope to see a few of you at the rink for Wranglers skates and games this year! I'll be sharing updates over in the Back Burner forum but I figured it'd be good for more people to see this info about the scrimmage at Winsport on Wednesday and then the exhibition game next week.
We should hear about the personnel in Groups 1 and 2 early tomorrow AM.
