I remember seeing an interview with Hugh a while back where he talked about how its unrealistic to stay in any type of shape even close to Wolverine outside of being an Olympic athlete. But he also said that training for those movies changed his life and that he always keeps a high level of fitness now, I think he compared it to treading water then being ready at any moment to swim the lanes and get shredded.
He has shown that he has that level of dedication in the past. As others have said, there doesn't need to be a shirtless scene anyway... doesn't NEED to be.. also if this is following the actual time line, when would this be happening around? 5 years before his body is ravaged by the cancer causing adamantium? They could always weave it in that his body is already starting to break down somewhat significantly.
So many ways to spin it, his age/fitness level do not concern me at all, he will give a top notch performance and the dynamic between the two of them will make this a great movie.

I doubt Hugh is taking the same back alley PEDs that some low rent Alabama scam artist is taking.
Based on how good his physique is year round, I'd say he probably on Testosterone Replacement Therapy ("TRT"). It's a pretty common thing these days, even in the general public. It's basically a low but consistent dose of roids provided under the supervision of a doctor. You take it year round and never see the major peaks in hormones.
The main advantage for someone at Jackman's age would be mood, vigor, fat burning etc... with increased muscle mass being there but not at unhealthy levels.
A lot of the deaths you see from steroid use are from enlarged hearts and arthrosclerosis buildup. The risk of this from TRT is reduced.

I fully expect it to be 30 seconds at the start with Wolverine dying to a universe destroying incursion that puts Deadpool in the MCU while also feeding into the Secret War storyline.... And I'm here for it.
Secretly hope Marvel backed up the MCU golden cash filled dump truck to Jackman's house to get him in secret wars too though. Cheapening Logan be damned, I don't care.
Stewart, mckellen, McAvoy, Fassbender etc.
Seems only way they can go bigger than endgame is to just pack secret wars full of everyone
