I read that people at the physical locations get priority for reservations. Was considering it, that's a lot less than I'd have expected for a deposit.

It's not *really* a deposit, it's just a place in line that you (or Tesla) may cancel at any time. Basically just to filter out people that aren't at least somewhat serious about buying.

+1 - I am an oilman, but one of these as a commuter car is just the ticket. I'll be in line tomorrow to pre order.

Is there any word on price yet?

I know they have said it will compete with the BMW 3 series, etc... but am interested in the actual price so I can make a case to the wife to buy one

It's rumored to be around 35,000$ US.

Late 2017 is a loooong time to wait for a car, and that's probably optimistic given the delays meeting orders of the Model X. They have a poor track record meeting their projected deadlines.

I think $35 K USD would be the base configuration price. Who knows how much a much a fully-loaded one will be.

$35k is the base price. You pay for the options. Extra for all wheel drive, extra for the larger battery, etc. It will still be reasonable, but I think most people will be higher than the $35k.

I'm pre-ordering a car online . . . it feels like a video game pre-order (of which I make too many of as it is).

I'd expect this to be anywhere from $55-65K CAD depending on how you build it out.

Not really relevant for Canada anyways and again, we're all well aware is $35k for the absolute base model

"We do have a car for that price, but this is the one most people actually buy!"
