They absolutely need to be calling this guy up and they cant be afraid of putting a veteran in the press box. He is a right shot as well the Flames are in desperate need. I would go....
Huby Lindholm Toffoli
Eat Bread Kadri Philips
Coleman Backlund Ritchie
Dube Rucizka Lewis

Calgary kid. Plays with tons of heart and would be an instant fan-favourite if he started finding some success.
What's the actual downside? He plays a few games and we continue to be awful offensively?
We have a 5 game homestand beginning Tuesday and he's right in your goddamn backyard.

There's no way he should be getting on the Wranglers' plane to San Diego next weekend. It's a farce.

CP is rarely unanimous on anything. But when it is, it's right every time.

If he keeps producing in the AHL for the rest of the year one of the 31 teams in the NHL will give him a chance next season.

What are the mechanics for an injury free call up at this point? Send down Gilbert and call up Phillips? Do we have the cap flexibility to do this right now?

Wranglers have played 4 games in the past 6 nights. Could that be factoring into decisions right now?

really at this point it's either the Flames choose to reap the rewards of patiently developing this guy for several years or another team will (for sure) next season

Gilbert is already down. They have plenty of roster and cap room.

Gilbert was sent down yesterday. They have 22 players on the active roster and over $1.25 million in cap space, so they could recall any player from the Wranglers without doing anything else.

Exactly..
Upside:
We may have a player here??
Inject some creativity into our lifeless corpse of a team
Get some of our useless players out of the lineup
A spark starts the team going in a good direction
Downside:
We continue to score 1 goal a game and suck like we currently do?

They've shown they're the least willing team in the NHL to promote their draft picks but honestly. It's absurd. A third of their forward lineup is dead weight right now and they trot the same stuff out every single game. Lucic should have been a scratch weeks ago.

If you're Phillips though, are you wanting to play for a losing team in the cold weather, or to play for a winning team down in the California weather and next to the beaches?
