Sounds like Verlander insisting on a 3 year deal and Astros not willing to go there. I don't believe Blue Jays are in play here but if you were a team like Toronto would you give JV a three year deal?

A few things to say about the Verlander side. I believe last season they were seen as the runner up, correct me if I'm wrong. The other side is I do wonder if his model wife would want to commit to 3 years here? On the Toronto end, I think with the Kikuchi and Ryu dead money tied up, they have to nail a surefire stud if they do give anyone a contract. I would do 3 years with the guy because he's shown he's that stud, even in his old age. I think he's the type of player with confidence and credibility they need on the pitching side of things. I'm very skeptical the Jays are willing to roll the dice on bringing in that expensive contract though, but if he's only looking for 3 years @ $30M/season, I'm inclined to do it.

Verlander to the Mets on a two year deal. Mildly surprising IMO.
edit: Sounds like there is some kind of 3rd year option.

11 years, $300M. This one I’m not shocked about at all. He’s in good shape and if anyone has a chance to stay healthy I’d select a guy like him over the hefty guy, but ultimately nobody plays to their billing mid to late into their contracts. He is playing a premium position so that’s worthwhile on spending (to me at least). The National League has been giving out these massive contracts the past few seasons. Really bizarre that the Yankees haven’t been super active aside from pitching.

Jesus. Who's gonna play short stop for the Dodgers.
Turner is good, but I didn't think he was 300M good.

They'll probably get Bogaerts or Correa now.

The track record for teams signing these massive deals is not good. Everyone thinks they will be the exception I guess.

One thing about the Turner deal. The length really pushes the AAV down. He should be good value for next few years.

Kinda think he needs to actually change his name to Arson Judge lol (it's been deleted and Heyman is now backtracking on the claim).

Giving Aaron Judge a long term deal is a very bad move IMO. The pressure on a big guys' joints will undoubtedly rob him of a long career. He's a great representative, and a really good player obviously but to give him a lifetime contract is really reserved for a handful of players, if any.

4/72 for Walker to Philly is a bit more pricey than expected. Just looks like one of those off seasons where salary has jumped. Kinda wish they had qualified Stripling now.

Great news for Yankees fans. Too long, maybe but he can DH for the back part of the deal. Too much? They have the cash. Now let's get Rodon and Yoshida and shoot Donaldson to the moon and it's a great offseason.
