I like it. Money is the only thing that seems like it would initiate change.

Don't know how long or what the structure of TSN's deal with Hockey Canada is, but I can't see Rogers throwing money at teams and tournaments shown on a rival company's network.

Glad to hear. Growing up as a teen in the 90s and having hockey playing friends, it wasn’t something I wanted to play. Just seemed toxic from the stuff that went on during road trips, to the way parents connected with their kids via a toxic performance contract with their kids. You play well, you get a hug, you suck you get screamed at all the way home.

Created some kids who were toxic themselves, and when they became independent didn’t really know right from wrong. I have seen some extreme examples.

The whole culture is broken and due for a reset.

I assume all will need to back out now, or it looks like they are condoning it.

Good on Scotiabnak for leading the way.

Good for the companies but always disappointing that it should have been dealt with much more proactively much sooner. The only reason Hockey Canada is being forced to change their ways is, as always, they were simply caught. Sickening how many women are living with real trauma in their lives due to inaction by Hockey Canada.

Ya it's crappy that an institution that represents us as a country needs private corporations to financially pressure them to do the right thing.

Hockey Canada and the NHL are largely run by an old boys club that dates back to the prehistoric era. The only way for real change is transition the dinosaurs out and while that will happen in time with evolution it's not going to be fast enough to please the masses in an era where people lack patience. Sure there are immediate measures that can be put in place but short of firing everyone and starting anew, it's going to take some time.

When a bank can high-road you, you got a problem.

Was there a recent metoo type of story within Hockey Canada that broke recently?

So, all that's left is Nike and the Federal Government?

Nike has pledged to keep pumping out crappy Olympic uniforms until Hockey Canada culture improves.

Just cancel the overhyped tourney. It hasn't been good for years and the broadcasters are a big part of the issue. They grab onto some kid and try to make him out to be the greatest thing in the game.

The competition level is like watching the Olympic Women's tourney with the same 3-4 teams being in contention each year. Cut the funding, kill Hockey Canada and just send the team leading the CHL at the Xmas break to the tourney.

Sponsors bail, so do you think players will boycott Hockey Canada and decline national team call-ups as well?
