I like it.

I recently have been reviewing banks to see which ones offer the best value / cost structure. Scotiabank is at or near the top of almost all categories depending on what one looks for (for majors at least). This move only helps them.

Good. Pro sports are toxic as hell. Start at the top and trickle down to the minors.

Time for sports to fix themselves. Only way to do that is to take the money train away till they figure their #### out.

End of the day, Money talks. If getting absolutely humiliated by politicians on the national stage was not enough to convince them to make some changes, hitting the organizations pocket book will definitely work.

I like the move by Scotia.

Start correcting this garbage, and end the "old boys club" that Hockey Canada seems to be.

CIBC will jump in all over this. I don't know why, but almost everyone I've met at CIBC has been horrible, with a few exceptions. I'm pretty sure the janitors have to have unconvicted murder charge on their resume as a requirement, and it just gets worse as it snakes up through the company.

Yea I feel like another big sponsor will just jump in and nothing changes much.
Hope I’m wrong, I’d love to see the audit findings about the money spent.

So true, I have heard nothing but bad things about cibc, employees ive met at other banks that worked for cibc have said its horrible there, from many different positions. I have not heard as many bad things about the other 4 big banks , not even close actually.

Hard to see how this will change anything . However, Scotiabank will likely get some free press for this move, while saving sponsorship $.

I don't get your point. Hockey Canada is not pro sports. The latest transgression was jr hockey players. Technically adults but not yet professional athletes. Hockey Canada is predominantly a youth hockey organization.

I don't see where they've suspended nhl sponsorship.

I do think it's good that Scotia has done this though.

Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes will get together and announce a joint sponsorship.

Now it's a falling knife situation. A big sponsor pulls out and the other sponsors run to the exits so they're not left holding the bag. Big problem headed HCs way as this will likely become too toxic for other sponsors to sniff at in the immediate term.

Is Tom Renney riding this flaming heap into the ground or resigning soon? This org is in deep and ex-hockey guys aren’t equipped for this.

Would be nice if they suspended their annoying condescending TV ads as well.

I’m not richer than I think.

Wonder how this will impact the commercial time that is likely already purchased on TSN?

Also wonder how this impacts future sponsorship agreements between companies and sports organizations- I.e. do the companies start asking for more organizational assurances

I guess we need to get used to all the betting ads.

After they trotted those out I found myself wishing they were airing the old horrible panago commercials .
I cannot remember a year where I looked at the things going on in the league with poor officials, bad decisions by the DPS , Bettman making passive aggressive comments on Calgary , needing a building, cap circumventing and allot of other shenanigans.
