Why is this? Genuinely asking, as it seems to me we really don’t know much about many people other than what they choose to share publicly in what is often a professionally crafted message.

I certainly hope this is true though and that he has earned this new opportunity. He is probably on chance 3 or 4 at this point.

Jim Montgomery was fired for behaviour issues, which considering he checked himself into rehab later on. Considering there have been zero abuse allegations against him - at that time over over his almost 20 year year coaching career - and that the Blues hired him the following season he seems like a guy who deserves another shot.

No idea why he's on his third of fourth chance, this is his second head coaching spot in the NHL.

I’d say getting an NHL head coaching job after a known drinking problem and DUI conviction is a second chance.

Again I truly hope he has dealt with his issues for the sake of his family ma anyone that could be impacted by his behavior.
