Default Covid Jersey Vote - Best #3 Flames History

perhaps a little less slam dunk than #2!

Jokipakka definitely wins best name.

Phaneuf is the obvious choice here IMO.

Phaneuf deserves this just because of his rookie season.

Phaneuf is perhaps rightfully maligned for how some things ended up, but with apologies to Konroyd, Patrick, Gauthier and Musil he still takes this

Even at his worst with the Flames, Phaneuf was better than most of the players on this list. At his best, he could be dominant.

Musil was a favorite of mine so threw a vote his way. He was an excellent partner for Chopper and just a great personality.

Phaneuf once finished third in Calder voting, behind some Russian guy and a scrub named Crosby. A goalie finished fourth -- I think his name was Lundqvist or something?

Schlemko gets points for that filthy shootout move. In his first game with the team, no less...

Weird that Frank 'Meta' Musil is the first name I think of when #3 comes up. Must be all the NHL 94 I used to play.

Phaneuf is the answer tho.

Phaneuf for sure. 20 goals, 49 points as a rookie, finished 3rd in Calder voting behind Ovi and Crosby and in a typical season he probably wins the trophy, that was just a crazy year for rookies. 17 goals, 60 points in his 3rd season and finished 2nd in Norris voting behind the one of the best defensemen of all time in Nicklas Lidstrom. Had 49, 49, 60 and 47 points, with 17, 17, 20 and 11 goals, and still managed to score 10 goals in 55 games in his final part season with the team. Controversial but for sure the pick here.

One of the most electrifying players to ever wear the jersey.

No. Mac and Musil were a pairing when Musil was acquired.
Suter and Chopper were paired on the PP, but not even strength for the most part.
If I recall I want to say that Suter and Sarge were a pair?

Phaneuf's lack of progression and eventual regression seems to have, in part at least, due to his hip issues, that players then started to exploit.
Add to that apparent issues with his coachability and there you have it.
But know question is play at one point was an a very high level. He was tracking to be a HOFer at one point.

The fact that he was a captain in Toronto suggests that he may very well still have a shot at the HoF.

Not to mention 1048 games and 494 points is nothing to sneeze at. All the same, he is a long shot at best.

Wendel Clark has a much stronger case than Dion and yet he's nowhere close.

It’s Phaneuf for me. Was sad to see him traded and upset that we didn’t get a better return (Like most other flames fans)

I'm disappointed in the lack of love for Frank Musil. Not flashy, but an incredibly solid defender who put in some great years for the Flames.

I will never vote for Phaneuf because he was a headcase that forced a panic trade by Sutter. Set the franchise back for several years, and I don't put that fully on Sutter for making a relatively poor trade. If only he had a better temperament the team may have gone on a big run.

The guy took an off-season job in a slaughterhouse to keep himself honest and grounded. They don't make them like that anymore.
