My daughter is devastated, and I'm proud of her because she is.

Tonight very well may be looked back upon as the night that democracy died in the United States

The histrionics I'm seeing on this are both depressing and unsurprising.

I generally ignore your shtick because you're just here to argue for the sake of arguing and it's tired, but at this moment, in this thread, at a moment which is devastating for many Americans--can you just not? Take it elsewhere. Give it some time. Let people mourn.

And that is literally all I'll say to you, I'm not here for arguments or semantics or any of the other ridiculousness you have such expertise in. Just a plea: let us have this moment.

Current situations aside, Ms. Ginsburg was an incredible person. I’m sure she inspired many people in the pursuit of justice, and the world is a better place for her efforts. RIP

Surprises me how people pay more attention to the politics/current events of another country than our own.

We have lots of skeezy judges in Canada appointed by own our delightful leaders like Stephen Harper. More than a few of these fine appointments find people guilty before even hearing the evidence.

ugh

This is a thread about the death of a great chief justice who changed the world, and you have to make this about some crap about Harper.

Ugh, that's why we have a Canadian Politics thread with lots of discussion which disproves your first point.

Ilya Somin did a good piece:

In Ginsburg's case, it is worth noting that I often found much of value in her writings even when I thought she was wrong.

Republicans are scum bags? Your tears are delicious.
None of that is going to happen but at least it will give you something to complain about for four more years.

Yeah, the Republican party is filled with scummy politicians who place party and individual power above all. The tears being delicious part is absolutely ridiculous, they are people who are concerned about the destruction of one of the leading nations in the world which had at a time seemed like a hope for freedom and democracy.

The worst people in politics aren't democrats or republicans, its people who think their side is virtuous and true and the other side is filled with sub human trash.

So, so true. It is at the heart of the polarization that now exists in the US and is rapidly infiltrating us in Canada.

Again this is a thread about the passing of RBG a great supreme court justice.

Take this somewhere else.
