Woo hoo Felix does it! He's now #3 in the race , I can totally see him top 5 at the end of the year.
I'm going to say he makes either the Wimbledon or US Open final this year.

So huge for Felix to get this win after that tough loss to Medvedev at the Aussie Open. That was the kind of loss that could have stuck with him for a long time, but he said he already was moving on and he backed it up this week. Taking out Norrie, the defending champ Rublev and Tsitsipas today is some pretty special stuff.

Opelka’s sets to win the Dallas title: 7-6(3) 7-6(8) 6-3 6-4 7-6(7) 7-6(22) 7-6(5) 7-6(3)
Not broken all week and only faced break point once
100 aces! And 1 double fault! In 8 sets.

Also, some pretty prominent people in the tennis world (Pam Shriver and Patrick McEnroe to name two) were calling out Brooksby yesterday for some unsportsmanlike behavior (tapping his racquet on his court, waiving his arms, grunting louder on big points). I didn't watch the match, but it might be something to keep an eye on moving forward.

Tsitsipas has won 7 titles including a Masters 1000 and an ATP finals, but the weird thing is that he is now 0-8 in ATP 500 finals.

Casper Ruud wins the Argentina Open defeating Diego Schwartzman in the final 5-7 6-2 6-3. With that win, he keeps Felix at #9 in the rankings (Felix would have moved up to #8 with a Ruud loss).

Found another excellent deep dive analysis blog that broke down Felix’s win
https://theracquet.substack.com/p/too-damn-good
It’s partially a subscription site, but luckily today’s article is free. Just as Dash and Senator mentioned, he’s not rushing winners but instead taking one or two extra shots to improve his court position before pulling an easy trigger. His excellent footwork also allowed him to hit over 60% forehands and pound on the vulnerable Yogurt backhand.
Here’s another free article I really liked, how to diffuse the tall big server counterpuncher, aka Meddy and Fraud. If you’re not Rafa or Djoker, then you can give yourself a chance surprisingly using block returns and short balls/droppers:

Jack, thanks for those links, they are great. Matthew Willis is a great follow on twitter for tennis analysis and the two articles above are prime examples of the details and breakdowns he provides.

I can't remember a week where there were four different ATP tournaments being held. Rio, Delray Beach, Marseille, and Doha are all running tourneys with Felix playing in Marseille and Shapo in Doha.

Novak is going to play the waiting game as restrictions appear to be easing worldwide and he may still get the green light to play the French Open and Wimbledon. It's too bad we're likely not going to see him at IW and Miami, but he's made his decision to remain unvaccinated.

Andy Murray with a 6-2 6-2 win over Taro Daniel in Doha and gets RBA next which should be a cracker of a match.
