^ but in fairness to your LBS, how many groupsets are they going to sell compared to a place like jenson or chain reaction?
I have found that most of the stuff I buy is about 20% more than the regular price at jenson - and by regular price I mean non-sale price and adjusted for currency.
a complete aside, I once again have to tip my hat to you guys who laughed at the forecast and rode in this morning knowing there is a big chance that it will be a tough slog home.

Was it me? Going to gut it out today after a very disappointing February.

Was there a solar storm this morning? My GPS on my Garmin actually lost satellite communication for a couple of minutes today.

Whaaat? I think the US Government is selectively locking down your Garmin!
Oh and I was out there this morning too, I figure I can tough out today but tomorrow may be no go.

Dense cloud cover can affect it also.

We are at peak time of year for solar transit to occur, but given the time of day I can't see that happening.
Solar transit is when the sun is directly behind a given satellite. Usually seen with things like Bell TV, where you are pointing at only one satellite.

i left too late, that ride in was absolutely terrifying. light skiff of snow on every frozen over puddle. I crashed for the second day in a row behind the zoo and almost bailed an additional three times but recovered. I had to walk up parts of the fox hollow hill it is so slippery. Be extra careful on the ride home team.

It's not their fault. The distributor in Canada is to blame for the insane prices for Shimano, SRAM and Campy. It's been that way for a couple of decades; I managed a shop when I was a student and used to read through the catalogues. The cost for many parts is higher than retail from Ribble, Evans, Total Cycling in the UK. Most people go with Wiggle/Chain Reaction but unless there is a sale they are usually higher than the others.
Best scenario for the shops; you order the parts online and get the shop to install. They usually prefer labour hours anyway.

Worth, that whole pathway is a #### show. I won't go near it in the mornings. Hope it's not too much of a death trap riding home.

Oh yeah Fox Hollow hill was insane this morning, just sheets of ice. At one point despite the studs the back tire decided to start fishing out on me before grabbing again.

I am guessing many guys are still bloated and bandy legged from yesterday steak and alternative employment day and lacked the energy to ride......
personally, I had ham for dinner and then went to the hitmen game

Even yesterday afternoon, I had to do two dismounts and a full on detour on the north Nose Creek path as the ice sheets in spots were deadly. All of the under passes (32 ave, McKnight, Beaver Dam Road) are unrideable.

Ya, I was worried about early snow covering the ice patches. As it is I walked any larger than a couple feet long. Not interested in going down, and they are really slick. I'm hoping enough snow falls that it binds to the ice instead of just greasing it up and hiding it. Will find out soon!

Has anyone bought from or heard about https://www.merlincycles.com? I can get the Shimano Dura Ace groupset for $1,700, which is $100-200 less than anywhere else online.

i have been dinged with duty and whatnot on shipments in the past from CRC - so if you were hit with some extra fees, it could eat into that margin and leave you with no savings. at the end of the day i prefer jenson as the stuff arrives within days with no extra fees
googled reviews of this place and as expected, there is good and bad - but the place seems to be legit
