The biggest issue I've had with Delta, whether flying out of Calgary or out of Edmonton, is if a flight has issues you're pretty much hooped because they don't have a ton of aircraft at either airport and they don't have a lot of flights coming in.

And they don't have the staff to deal with problems either. The front line staff tried their best to re-book everyone but they had no administrative help what so ever.
More details of my disastrous outbound flight from Calgary.
We cleared US customs and security, found our gate and boarded, backed up maybe 10 feet, and were told there was a problem, that mechanical staff had to be called. The mechanics came and we were told to vacate the plane while they arranged refreshments for us.
We were served butter chicken and a bottle of water at 9 am. Who serves butter chicken as a refreshment period let alone at that time of day?
When we left the plane for refreshments, we were told to leave our backpacks etc on the plane. Next we were told the plane can't fly so now the whole lot of us had to re-board, collect our belongings, and de-board.
We had not planned on checking luggage but at the boarding gate, we were told the flight was extremely full so we checked our luggage free.
However, now we had to collect our luggage which meant we had to clear Canadian customs and then go to the Delta booking kiosks to re-book new flights.
We stood in line for over 4 hours and not one Delta person came to offer even a bottle of water. None of us were notified in person or electronically what was going on for any new flights.
So we finally got re-booked, now flying through Seattle on the red eye and arriving in Minneapolis early the next morning. So we had a lot of time to kill. We had to clear US customs and security first though. This is now the second time we had to clear US customs and security
We killed some time at a bar and then decided to find where our gate was. As we approached our gate, the gate beside it announced last boarding call for 2 people taking a direct flight to Minneapolis. What flight could that be...nobody notified us?
So we went to that gate and said if those 2 people don't show, we want those seats. Well Mr. Grumpy said that was not possible, that the gate was closed, and that we would never get our luggage on anyhow. We held up our carry on luggage and said, no problem here and then a very friendly agent took over and got us on the flight.
We thought we would get some looks as we boarded, that people would think we had held up their flight.
There was 20 people on the plane...it was empty. Why had we and other passengers not been told of this flight?
And here comes the real comedy. About 2 weeks after we were already back in Calgary, we got e-mails from Delta advising us there was an urgent update regarding our outbound flight to Minneapolis...unbelievable.
We got $150 Amazon certificates for compensation.
