Will the Flames sign Coda Gordon?
Flames have until June 1st to sign Coda Gordon.
If they do not he will fall back to the 2014 NHL entry draft.
If not drafted again Gordon will become an UFA.

signed an ATO with Abbotsford after his WHL season was over but didn't see any games with the Heat.

I won't be surprised if they don't. He'd be way too far down the depth chart, and not nearly skilled enough to push out other top six candidates, and not nearly big or "truculent" enough to push out the other bottom six candidates.

Winger depth that might be down on the farm next season, who already have NHL contracts....
1. Baertschi
2. Reinhart
3. Gaudreau
4. Ferland
5. Agostino
6. Poirier
7. Jooris
8. Van Brabant
9. Elson
Plus Hanowski is an RFA, who I think will get qualified, and it's rumored David Wolf will sign with the Flames and may need some AHL seasoning.
Even if a couple of those guys make the NHL right out of camp a guy like Gordon would be in tough to get any ice time with our AHL affiliate.

I personally would but I believe the Flames won't. He's a little far down the winger depth chart.
That being said, a sign and trade might be in the cards as I could see teams which need a project player trading a little for him.

Trade him if possible, otherwise let him go back in the draft. No lost in my opinion.

I believe in the Jays.
|
I'm going to guess no.
There is nothing stopping them from signing him, plenty of space on the reserve list & they've gotten all the information they can get before having to make a decision (all the camps, all the CHL seasons post draft, and the ATO with the Heat)... if he hasn't been signed by now I would wager they have no intention of signing him period.

Maybe an AHL deal, but if they were interested in an NHL deal, he'd be signed by now.

If he did sign, he'd likely be going to Alaska instead of the AHL.
Either way, it's not a big deal. Either we lose some depth near the bottom of the depth chart, or we don't. Nothing to worry about either way.

Nope, Coda seems like a good kid but there just isn't any room.

I'd let him re-enter the draft, if he goes undrafted let him light it up as a 20 year old and earn a deal somewhere

He can easily be replaced, not worth a contract

He will go undrafted and sign an AHL deal with the Adirondack Flames as a free agent... just a hunch.

I bet you're right, except not with Adirondack but another AHL team.

I think its more likely that he returns to the WHL for his overage year (especially if he doesn't get redrafted)
