A team full of guys playing for their future with a good coach - so far preseason games have been impressive considering what we thought was going to play out.
There's definitely some structure in place system wise that the team is buying into, though early..
I don't think we're a playoff team, but i worry we won't be in the basement in typical Yotes tank fail fashion.
Don’t worry. They will be terrible.
We have seen teams go undefeated in the preseason and then finish last in the league. These results mean nothing.
Dom from the Athletic has them with an 83% probability of finishing last in the division.
“I’ve done previews for a lot of teams over the past few years and I can’t recall many where the potential opening night roster looked so bleak. It’s going to be ugly.”
Hutton hasn’t had a GAA below 3 since 2018 and Korenar has only played 10 NHL games. That goalie duo alone should be enough to guarantee a great draft pick next summer.
I don’t think they have one top line player in their forward group and half of their bottom six are overpaid Vancouver cast offs.
Chychrun is a stud though- probably the one redeeming thing from the Chayka era.
Lot of star players are injured and likely to miss the start of the season
J. Eichel
J. Gardiner

B. Bishop
J. Quick
M.Hoffman, P. Byron, C. Price, S. Weber
K. Hayes

A. Matthews
A. Tuch
N. Backstrom
Shame about Vrana. This was going to be his big coming out year, where he was going to show what kind of player he could be, away from Washington. Hope he comes back and does some damage for them before the playoffs.
Anybody hear about if players like Jankowski or Neal are getting a contract? Or I'm guessing that happens in the next few days after preseason is over?

Frolik was released from his PTO by the Blues
Neal is playing tonight in the Blues last pre-season game, for what its worth

He only played one and a half games, so it's a small sample size, but it looks like he lost his job to Ingram who looked better during camp. Rittich allowed 3 goals on 30 shots in a split squad game against FLA, and 1 goal on 7 shots in half a game against TBL.

Max Domi is a star? Is he even in the league in a year?

IDK he has still accomplished more than many of the first rounders that season....it's not their worst move
To trade down from 14 to 21 and miss on players like Vasilevskiy and Wilson while taking Jankowski who’s turning into a tweener this year if he can’t find a landing spot is a bad bad miss. Especially when the one asset you acquired in trading down played 2 NHL games and is inactive… as a high 2nd round pick. It was a bad setback for this club in many ways. Having Tom Wilson riding shotgun with Monahan and Gaudreau through their formative years at the NHL level would have been unreal. Or having a goalie like Vasilevskiy this whole time opposed to the carousel the past 8 years would have been a game changer too.
So Rittich will be making $1.25 million in the AHL I guess? Doesn't seem likely anyone claims him.
Or maybe he still has a shot at getting the backup job?
I don’t know if he will be sent down, but the Preds would want to see what they have in Ingram. I don’t think Ingram is waiver exempt, so my guess is that they keep him with the big club to backup Saros. Right now I would give the slight edge to Ingram, but a lot can change depending on who plays the last preseason game tonight.
Saros started the last 2 games for the Preds, so it’s hard to tell. Maybe they just aren’t concerned about giving Rittich reps, or perhaps he plays tonight against the Canes.
