I want to get permanent LEDs installed at my house. Preferably, well the requirement would be a phone app.

Phillips Hue is easily the market leader in this tech right now. They have a very user friendly app, moderate customization, and LED strips you can shape into whatever you'd like. This is a pretty big undertaking and its gonna hurt the wallet.

Important questions to ask yourself, is it important to change colour? Is it necessary to be controlled by a phone or would a photocell be ok? How much of youroutside trim do you want lit up and how difficult is it to access?

Ahh ok, well my only advice that way is to contact a specialty home lighting and automation company. This isnt regular electrician work that I would trust to Joe Blow with a red seal. Unfortunately this isnt my strong suit but some lighting companies (Carrington) might be able to point you in the right direction for a good local contractor.

So this is going to be my new hobby going forward. Professionally done it’s not going to be cheap but you will get an app for it. Trimlight.com seemed like the best service I could find for professional installation.

If you are interested at all in electronics and DIY there is a significant Christmas light community that you can tap into for installation ideas. I am going the route of using ws2811 from a China distributed. I’m going to use round pixel nodes that will be drilling into j channel to add to my roof line. I’m not sure on the app control as of yet but I will be using a specialty control board that is connected to a rasp pi to run programmed sequences. I believe once you make the sequences you can use phone app to trigger.

You are using low voltage led it is actually a lot easier than working with actual 120v. All you need is some power supplies for 12v and a controller of sorts. Now making it look good on a roof line is a little trickier but the actual electrical portion isn’t rocket science.

It looks cool, but at the same time it seems too tacky to me, looks like a party house. But this is just my personal opinion.

It’s not for everyone but the beauty of it if you get the right type of lights is you can program each individual light. Someone by my house as programmed 2 lights beside each other with 5 foot gaps between the next light. Really makes the house outline look classy without being overboard. Then for Christmas switches to full on Christmas lighting.

I think we're both saying the same thing. A specialist will give him a better product and be more familiar with an app then an electrician would be.

I don't want them to have year round, just better Christmas lights. Also maybe turn em green for St Pattys day, red for Canada day etc. White for Jets playoff game days

How dark is it around your house? I just don’t think this will pop inside the city like it shows on that picture.

That house in picture doesn’t have lights on at 100%. Most people who run led for Christmas are in the 30-40% brightness range depending on ambient light sources. They can be extremely bright think Saddledome ring of fire as needed. Again if you have the right hardware they are extremely customizable for each application.
