This team I s pretty unwatchable at this point.
It's so frustrating watching the pitching staff doing their best out there while on offense the entire team is beyond useless.

It'd be nice to make the playoffs with more teams making it, but it's such a short season I'm just glad these young players are getting some reps in at all, and chances are pretty good the Jays will have another very high pick in the next draft to add to Martin in the latest draft, so that's not a bad thing either.

I’d take Rowdy over Vlad Jr!
Point still stands, why the #### was Rowdy trying to steal a base.

As a casual fan I'm very confused by what I hear from fans. Two years ago when we were losing our shirt in trades for stars, Jays fans were suggesting that drafting high in baseball doesn't really matter like other sports.
The past couple years now that we're drafting high, the narrative seems to have flipped, suggesting that drafting high is actually important?

Not sure who said drafting high “doesn’t matter”, it’s definitely a lot less certain in baseball than the other professional North American sports leagues, but if you can hit on your high picks like KC Royals did, or the Astros did, then it definitely helps! Acquiring talent through the draft can lead to good things, so having high draft picks definitely isn’t a bad thing. It’s not everything but it helps!

So what happened with Bichette's dad? I remember at the beginning of the season they kept showing him in the dugout, now I never see him. Was he fired?

No, he's still listed as part of the coaching staff on their website and they aren't going to fire him so quick especially when the players say they love him. When he was first hired it was something newsworthy so they kept showing and talking about him but now he's just become part of the coaching staff.

Won't be upset if they don' make the playoffs, but I do want to see them improve as the season goes on, and I want to see the coaches push them to get better.
I do not want to see a season of 'oh they're just kids, they'll get better'. Demand greatness from them.
I have not been happy with Montoyo's reaction to all the errors over the last few days. I want to see him start benching guys - you do something moronic, you can sit for a day.
That is how you raise the bar.

Montoyo has to take charge at some point - you can't just stand around and watch the team make mistake after mistake

I'm not exactly sure how benching a player for commiting fielding errors makes them better at fielding. Its not like they are doing it in purpose.

An error like Shoemaker just made happens - it was just a bad throw.
But base running errors, dropping balls, and throwing it 15 ft over the 1st baseman's head when you aren't rushed, those are mental errors.
Once in a while - you shrug it off. When it becomes a pandemic, you start kicking ass. Especially with young players.

I feel if you start doing that this early in the season the team is going to hate the manager and you'll create more problems than solve.
The Jays have had a pretty crazy schedule and with the stop/start and not having a home field I think using the carrot instead of the stick would be a better idea. A lot of these guys rhythm is off. Hitting and defense has been pretty hard to watch. Prior to this series their fielding had actually been quite good if I remember correctly.

That was one of Vladdy’s best at bats. Came up aggressive, got his pitch, and put a good swing on it.

Same pitch he grounded out to from his last AB, so good eye on him for swinging at it and getting a better hit out of it.
