It would definitely be a neat little attraction if they opened it to the public.

F that. They should let me have as my house. That would be sweet.

I'd pay some money to go up there and spot. It'd be a wicked view.

If we were in Europe (especially a place like the Netherlands) this would be a very distinct possibility. The pessimist in me thinks that since we are in "security lockdown" North America the chances of this becoming any sort of cool observation area for the airport are slim to none.

Can the temporary road they have made to access Road Savers Western from Metis be left open once the tunnel opens? Then I could access the tunnel from Metis.

I must get a tour, that view is awesome.
That new big hangar middle left in the picture is the new home for Sunwest Home Aviation.

Any pics of the interior of the old tower for comparison's sake?

If you can get a tour, you should probably ask if you can bring a few CPers along...

Crews work around the clock to bring Calgary Airport 'into the future'
Quote:
Travellers won't get their first look inside the new terminal at Calgary International Airport for another two years, but the building that will eventually handle tens of thousands of passengers each day is already a busy place.
Inside the incomplete structure, so massive it could house five Boeing 737s, 1,200 workers a day labour in preparation for an October 2015 opening date.
In some places they're still erecting steelwork, in others they're already installing the
radiant heating and laying the granite floors.
"It's such a large project we've divided it up into eight work areas," says Bob Schmitt, senior vice-president of planning and engineering with the Calgary Airport Authority. "Right now, the biggest challenge is just the sheer magnitude of the job."
The current expansion project - which also includes the construction of a new $600-million, 14,000-foot runway - is the largest in the history of the Calgary airport. When complete, the expansion will have doubled the amount of terminal space at the airport, created 22 new aircraft gates, and given Calgary the longest runway in Canada, capable of landing the largest aircraft in the world with fewer payload restrictions.

Also, Airport Road and Barlow Trail are getting some realignment done soon. The new leg connecting the Arrivals/Departures road to the intersection has already started. So expect some construction delays South of Airport Trail for a while.

Is the city going to rename a segment Barlow? Or are we going to have three separate Barlow Trails forever now?

I believe that the one north of the airport will be renamed Barlow crescent.
