are there now three "tiers" of jersey??
i.e.:
1. Adidas authentic (size 54ish or whatever with fight strap, etc.)
2. / 3. Adidas Replica vs. Fanatic Breakaway Replica
???
Anyone familiar and if so what are the differences (quality-wise and price-wise) b/w 2 and 3??

Fanatic Breakaway Replica's are just silkscreened. Logo + Name/Numbers + Flags. Doesn't look that great IMO.

Yup. Thought about picking one up, but even $180 for one (with a name and number) was too high for the quality.

I don't think there is an Adidas Replica....
The fanatic ones are garbage.

There is always as way to pass judgement and feel better about yourself at the expense of someone else.

There is no Adidas replica. As far as I know, there are two styles you can buy in retail: Adidas "Authentic" and Fanatic Breakaway.
I believe the "Authentic" jersey is not the actual on-ice jerseys the players wear. For one thing, the Authentics are made in Indonesia, where I believe the on-ice jerseys are still made in Canada. I am not sure what differences you would be able to notice if you had the two side-by-side though.
I don't believe you can buy the true on-ice jerseys anywhere right now, but that will probably change over time.

I honestly can't tell if you're trying to give life advice or providing a superb example of this...

They aren't silk screened, that would mean they were just printed on the jerseys - like you'd find on a t-shirt. The replica jerseys have iron on patches, instead of sewn on patches though.
Adidas no longer makes "replica" jerseys:

The cost increase on the replicas is totally BS though.

I just checked out a sample of the authentic AdiZero jerseys. They do not seem as 'durable' as the older CCM/Koho/RBK (pre Edge) jerseys. I do not remember what the 2008-2017 Reebok Edge were like. Did Edge jerseys have double elbow like the CCM?
The AdiZero Authentics do not the additional elbow patch. The 'tackle twill patch' that the fight strap is attached to, it not as 'durable' as the old CCM. Jersey does feel a lot lighter than previous authentics. Feels like a practice jersey.

Where a jersey, any jersey, support the team.
Don't bankrupt yourself doing it.
It's only a hockey jersey.
