People realize that the vast majority of players don't get to dictate where they play, right?
Even with NTC, you get to pick where you DON'T get traded to, and everything else is up to the GM and he doesn't give a #### about your personal preference. He's in it to win it and will trade your ass to the place that gets him the best return.
Even in UFA, it's rare a player can pick exactly where he wants to go.
This conversation about Johnny leaving is just silly.
The guy is American. His family and now fiancée live on the east coast and his stock is slipping here
Anyone who thinks he hasn’t asked to be moved needs to take off their homer glasses

He expects to be 1L here, and we are not going to win cups with him on 1L. Super talented. But his time here is over. He needs to go.
So do you think he asked for a trade or not?

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
Re the dual engagement:
Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George and Jerry vow to make big changes because of the trivial reasons they keep rejecting women, and make a pact.
Both think about getting engaged, deep in thought on the pier. George goes ahead with it, and Jerry ends up not, for the trivial reasons.
I did hear Johnny's fiance eats her peas one at a time.

My sources have indicated to me that theres nothing we can do about it either way, so strap in and enjoy the ride.
Hopefully Johnny's wife can resolve his (alleged) dietary issues and perhaps motivate him to up his game more often to land that next sweet, sweet contract.

I don't think Johnny's asked for a trade. I do think he likes it in Calgary. I just don't think he would re-sign in Calgary when he turns UFA, that's all. And if that's the case, I'd rather trade Johnny when his value is high vs. lose him for nothing. It'd be different if the Flames were contending every year, but as it stands, it feels like the Flames are just spinning their tires.
I was willing to give this year another chance, but they flaked out again in the first round. At this point, I'd rather the Flames bite the bullet and get something for Johnny rather than keep the same formula, flake out in the playoffs for a couple years again, and then lose Johnny for nothing.
