Post Jermain Franklin is leaving Calgary

Quote:
We have some news...
As you can tell, the love this family has for Calgary is real and unconditional. Micah, on my side, is 4 years old in the first pic. Samson, clinging to Andrea’s leg, is 2-and-a-1/2... Both kids were born here. They are Albertans through and through.
We love the #Flames... but the next time we go to a game we’ll be cheering in their road whites.
While Calgary will always be home, it’s time for us to return home. It has been made possible thanks to a fantastic opportunity with #TSN
Stay tuned...

Happy for him, he is pure class.

Will be leaving some big shoes to fill.

Jermain is great. Loved watching him on TSN. Looking forward to seeing what his exciting new opportunity is!

I will miss having Franklin covering the Flames on behalf of TSN. All the best to him in his next endeavor.

He leaves some big shoes to fill. As much as I came to appreciate him over the years, I still chuckle thinking back to Darryl's very obvious annoyance for every question he asked.

I assume home for him is GTA? Sad to see him go but happy for him and his family that they are going to be closer to family.

Sounds like he's getting a big promotion within TSN, possibly?

I'm sad that he's leaving Calgary. Always really liked Jermain. He seems to have a great sense of humour, and a genuine good person. He seems to have a very good cadence with his co-workers and people he's interviewing.

All the best to him!

Always thought that was a cool part of the job: getting to visit/live around the country regularly. Good luck to him. I'm assuming GTA as well?

That’s too bad, I like Jermaine and thought he did a great job covering the Flames, plus he’s been in Calgary for so long. Good for him getting a promotion though!

these days when media people tend to be loud mouth, abrasive, jerks, Jermaine is the opposite. You'd never confuse him with a hard hitting journalist; his questions tend to be softballs, but I'd rather reporters inform about a story, instead of create a story by stirring the pot, or just making up stuff <Dregger>

TSN Calgary reporters tend to be in that mold. Jim Van Horne, Peter Watts, Teresa Kruze, Lisa Bowes and Jermaine Franklin. Wonder who is in line to replace him?

Who knows when we'll next get hockey in Calgary? TSN can take their time. In the meantime, they could have Craig Button or Noodles report on the Flames

Yeah the sports journalism world needs more class and less hot takes. I encourage journalists to ask tough questions as long as they don't make things personal like Larry Brooks for example.

I'm a big fan of guys like Jermain and Ryan Leslie, people who aren't obnoxious like Francis, or confrontational like Brooks.

Seemed to be a genuinely nice guy not out to climb the ladder or make a big splash at the expense of creating a story. I hope the best for him.
