If it's for Kane it'll only be prospects going the other way. Maybe with deeper picks or '19 ones.
100% contract talk would have to be involved. No way Tre risk assets for something that could very well last 2 or 3 months.
Been hearing rumblings around us and Buffalo for much of the season so I believe it. I get the feel that Brad has taken his time and thoroughly scouted a player or players on that team for a little while. So I trust his instinct if he decides to pull the trigger on someone.

Fox and Bennett for Kane and Reinhart is workable assuming Kane re-Signs.
Personally I feel Fox has more value than Kane at the moment and Reinhart more than Benny. With Reinhart being a right shot and Kane being able to replace Bennett the deal makes sense to me
I honestly don't see either team having the appetite to move either Reinhart or Bennett.
If Bennett is involved, then yes. I’d be inclined to do Brodie, Bennett, and Fox for Kane, Reinhart, and McCabe. If we have to kick in another minor asset, I’d be open to that, so long as Kane is extended.
I tried to quote from my phone and it thanked you.....
Ferland and Kane are very similar players. Give Kane the edge for star potential but not to the tune of Brodie and a top prospect. I get the dump of Brouwer and addition of Okoposo is nice but what if next October Kane is gone and we traded Ferland, Brodie, and top prospect for Okoposo.... we would want Tre fired overnight!
to be fair that is under the assumption of a re-signing of Kane before the trade's announced.

This may be the first time in a few weeks I actually agree with what you are saying haha
But yeah I don't see the flames making a big splash, Kane would demand more in salary than the flames internally want to pay and i doubt there's much appetite to part with our good prospects.
Hopefully tre can drive up the prices or at least keep teams tied up until the deadline passes uneventfully
I don't see a big splash into the rental market either.
Thinking about the recent history of rentals for this franchise, I think we've actually had a really poor experiences with rentals.
11 years ago we traded Ference and Kobasew for Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau. That lead to a quick 1st round exit against the Red Wings.
In 2009, we acquired Olli Jokinen in a monster trade and that lead us to another quick 1st round exit vs Chicago
We picked up Michael Stone last season and that helped us make the playoffs, but then we were unceremoniously swept by the Ducks.
I think there was a small move in 2006 that eventually ended in another 1st round exit and then there was a complete mess of crap in 2010. So obviously, the rental market hasn't been too kind to us lately.
Nice thought, but from the Sabres stand point, no GM with two brain cells to rub together is going to take that.
Fox is arguably the best asset in the bunch. Brouwer has control with a no move & if asked to waive his clause to go to buffalo (!?!) would probably say 'go to hell'. Brodie & Bennett.......yeesh. What are you getting? Bennett is a complete question mark, and Brodie looks like a guy just going through the motions, happy to collect his 4.6/year thank you very much.
If Brouwer stays his career is done at the end of this contract or sooner. I believe his only hope is to join a bottom-feeder where he might get top six minutes and try to resurrect interest for ANY kind of contract. Otherwise he retires when the Flames buy him out next year (a guy can dream). Bennett for Reinhart is basically a wash. Brodie for Okposo at 50% retained is a gamble for us, not Buffalo hence Kane is added. RoR is pipe dream but it's Sunday and the bowl runneth over.
If we somehow get Kane, I hope he’s purely a rental. I don’t want to re sign that guy. But I’d love him for a couple months for the playoff drive and playoffs
Since I want him as a rental, I wouldn’t overpay. Something like what Grabner got hit a better prospect. I’d do a 2nd and Killington. If Sabres won’t do that, then I walk away.
Really would like to see the Flames stick with their players and prospects, mostly because I am not thrilled with who and what team's like Buffalo want to get rid of and gain.
Brad would do well to stay away from Kane at all costs.

They could be scouting Reinhart for a Bennett swap.
Is a Bennett for Reinhart swap all that crazy?
Similar stats - maybe a slight edge to Reinhart.
Seems really unlikely Bennett will leapfrog Johnny or Tkatchuk as a LW, and the Flames could use more skill and I.Q on the right side.
Why would Buffalo do it? Maybe they value the grit that Bennett brings and see him as a potential Kane replacement - see Bennett recently playing #1LW.
