I still have a lot of faith in John Hufnagel, but I don't love Dickenson or Bo Levi Mitchell.

Well, at least one poster suggested he shouldn’t be back next year (albeit reluctantly):

Not going to criticize though — it was a tough loss today and a frustrating season in many respects…

Just watched it on PVR. Lot of pain, lot of questions, lots of things I want to comment on. But one thing bothered me more than anything else during that game:

Who gave TSN the art school camera, and why didn't they warn them not to over do it?

Only Edmonton has more playoff wins since 1958.

The art school camera? Do you have 4k? That's what that is, it's the same for every major sporting event broadcast in 4k, not a CFL random art camera thing, lol. It looks incredible if you have a 4k feed on a 4k TV.

I don't even have 4K and I'm enjoying it. The NFL has been doing that all season, cool to see the CFL doing it too.

One of my buddies in an ongoing WhatsApp group chat for football yakkin was going on about how much he hates it today too...some people just think it looks bizarre I guess? I personally love it

No that’s not what it is and it’s not on almost any other 4K events. It’s a distinct effect. It’s not something that just happens when you broadcast in 4K. As per a post in this thread from earlier, fox pioneered it and I’ve never seen anyone else use it. I only first noticed it in the thanksgiving cowboys game on fox.

And yes, I think it looks hilariously dumb and tsn way, way overdoes it. They need to turn down the portrait effect by about 50%.

I thought it looked way better on fox but they used it sparingly so I didn’t see it much. Hard to see if the level of isolation and background blur was the same.

Haha, sorry, I might have derailed this.

What I was talking about was an effect that I believe may be called "depth of field". They seemed to have a sideline camera that kept the players (or crowd) close to the camera in focus, while everything behind was blurred. It was pretty extreme (like a player even two steps behind the in focus player was blurred).

Is that the 4K camera? They used it A LOT. Occasionally it was cool (like on a touchdown celebration). But mostly I found it annoying.

Not as annoying as the stamps finding a way to lose a game where the opposing QB threw four interceptions. But it didn't help my mood.

I thought it looked like they were broadcasting via Teams and left the background filter on

I like it myself. It comes out really nice in baseball and the PGA tour as well. It looks a little silly in regular HD, but just excellent in 4k.

From a 2-5 start to a playoff game in a shortened season to losing in OT on a missed field goal.

I have no issues with any of these guys coming back next year.

You cant continually squander situations like 2nd and 1 on the 14 yard line and expect your kicker to bail you out every single time. Something is going to give at some point. That 2nd and1 play is what lost the Stamps the game. Rene still give the Stamps the best chances at getting points in the future. Let him go and guaranteed he kicks a field goal in the future that eliminates the Stamps from a playoff run.

My only reservation about bringing Bo back in 2022 is that I hope it doesn't come at the expense of losing Jake Maier who I think showed that he can be a viable QB in this league.

The play of Maier was very encouraging. Stamps cant lose him for a questionable Bo going forward. I would think both are back next year but Maier could certainly be the future.

^^ Wonder if they got it on video. Would be a shame if Duke got suspended for the West Final...

They put up 30 points and with 3 missed field goals...Bo can come back or not but he didn't cost them the game IMO.

I don't think the CFL would go that far even with video evidence (though it would be the right call). They would fine Duke, but that would be it.
