Plus if the Kings were to trade Dubois right now, they would be looking for a Center that they could at least plug into the 3rd line right now as part of the return.
to be fair in this scenario we are getting Clarke I think, not that I think it's realistic but that might be worth it
Wouldn't L.A. be better off just eating the PLD contract than trading one of their most promising prospects? Regardless, PLD doesn't do anything for Calgary's retool aside from maybe accelerating their descent to the bottom.
Off the top, if Markstrom is dealt to the Kings, I'd want Byfield. Perhaps he doesn't turn out to be as dominant as when he was drafted but he's looking alright.

Less than 0% chance they move Byfield for Markstrom. Maybe they could’ve been convinced to move him last year but he’s looking like an absolute stud now

“We moved a couple of pieces now that were pretty vocal about not wanting to be here,” Coleman said. “I think once you eliminate that, the noise at this point, it’s not really affecting us. The guys that the noise is around, they’re competitors. They want to win here, they want to win wherever they are. They haven’t been a distraction at all.”

He's 21 and has taken a huge step this year. He is probably the most untouchable player on the Kings.
Byfield looks like their future captain/franchise player. On top of his skills, he's also 6'5'' and 225 lbs. Power forwards typically take a bit longer to develop. The sky's the limit with Byfield. You'd have to be nuts to move him.
Edit: That whole 2020 draft is beginning to look absolutely loaded. Proof that having as many lottery tickets as possible in the first round is a solid strategy.

I was a hypothetical that someone else posted...for Clarke I do it
not that it's realistic
Is it possible that PLD is dumb, as well? The other night, the Kings took a too many men penalty when PLD raised his arm indicating he was coming off the ice and when he got within 12 feet of the bench, went after the puck in the offensive zone instead. It was Kopitar, I believe, who had jumped onto the ice and quickly back onto the bench but called a penalty.
Didn't Toffoli only want out after he learned he wasn't a priority for the Flames?
Same with Zadorov, he wanted to sign and kept saying he wanted to stay until the flames wouldn't budge on term/ contract value for him. He took that as not being a priority and changed his tune.
IMO this is a direct shot at Lindy specifically, who was always a priority by management but always seemed uncomfortable and displeased over the last 2 seasons.
