Three episodes in and really like it so far. Except for the subtitles, they are small and hard to read.

My wife and I are (i'm going to bet) double pretty much many people's age here...and we immensely enjoyed the show. Yes, reading AND staying awake, ha ha!


Given that we watch a lot of international movies and series anyway (Mhz choice eg) subtitles aren't much of a problem.


Shogun was surprisingly well done, understated and the actors (as well as writers, creators and production crew) apparently worked tirelessly - some for 10 years - to get the constumery correct, the languaging, walking, fighting and sword techniques absolutely right.


Well worth watching IMO.

Finished it up last night. I really enjoyed it, I think those going in looking for non-top Samurai action were going to be disappointed, it was definitely the personal relationships and politics that were the focus, and I quite enjoyed that.

I'll need to read the book now too, I always like seeing the differences from source material to TV/Film adaptations.

Realizing Blackthorne never did go back to England, and that whole sequence of him old and in bed with grandkids was just the "dream within a dream".
