Got their asses kicked by a 44 year old. If they fall any further out may as well start playing a few kids + Zeke, Nori & co.

Other than mash righties this year and hit close to a 300 batting avg the whole year (not against lefties though), not much.
Look, I'm not big on Zeke but their playoff hopes are basically pretty much dashed for all intents and purposes anyway.

His poor defense drives me up the wall. Mentally sometimes he doesn't seem in the game.

That catch impressed me. I'm sure analytics will prove that it was a poor route, poor positioning and lame foot speed that turned a routine play into wasted sizzle.

Will still watch but they're so unofficially done. Getting swept by the Cubs really dashed any of their slim remaining sort of semi-realistic hopes of staying relevant.

In earlier news today, OF Nori Aoki got DFA'd, and relief pitcher Leonel Campos called up from (AAA) Buffalo.

That catch was spectacular. Pillar deserves a gold glove.
Love JD and his bombs, but would it kill him to shorten up once in a while? I think he had three opportunities to drive in runs if he could have just put the ball in play.

Watch it again, he catches it if he just keeps running. Like 95% of his diving catches, simply done for show, or TV dive as it is called by many.
Pillar is a 4th outfielder.

He is an absolute gong show defensively, but as a 5th outfielder, you can't complain. Dude is hitting, can steal a base.
If this team can move Pillar to the 4th outfielder and get another outfielder that you know, can actually hit, that would go a long way to contending next year.

Making some room for some September call-ups I see. Hope we get another chance to see Alford.

Want to see Alford and Hernandez. Hopefully add some speed to the roster and improved outfield defense provided they prove they can hit at the MLB level.
Also, I think Danny Jansen has been crushing every level this year now that he's healthy, including his recent stint in AAA. Would be great for him to get a look as well. Hopefully we don't have a complete plug for a back up catcher next year, but maybe a younger guy with a bat and some hope for the future after Martin is done.

He's 4th on the team in WAR. While his hitting is below average/average his D is next level
He's gets to balls most couldn't even imagine.

Montero must have a dWAR of like -6. Worst catcher I've ever seen at this level defensively
