I don't think Hickey is a blue chip prospect but I hope the Flames do sign him this off-season and make room for him in the AHL next season. I assume Wotherspoon and Morrison will not be retained and Andersson might be ready for an NHL spot next season.

If Hickey isn't a blue-chipper, I think he is close.

His skating is exceptional - not good, but exceptional. He has a good shot from the point, is a great puck-mover, likes to play a rugged game, and is good defensively. He is about as a complete of a prospect as one could hope for.

I don't think he is NHL ready, but I do think he will be an NHL defencemen. It is fun just watching Hickey skate. I think he is right up there with Brodie and Kylington for pure skating ability, and is joining the organization being a more complete player than Kylington or Brodie were (though his time in the NCAA has really helped with that, so it definitely isn't a fair comparison).

I really look forward to Hickey, actually. Though I still like Kylington more just due to his higher ceiling (which is my opinion anyways), I think that Hickey might be the best of the bunch out of any of the current defensive Flames' prospects.

Just a reminder that the NCAA tournament is getting underway this afternoon. Both Flames prospects are in action.

BU vs. North Dakota is starting shortly on TSN-Go.

Harvard vs. Providence is at 2:00pm, also on TSN-Go.

Both Harvard and BU get a bit of a raw deal today. They're each the higher-ranked team in their games, but they have to play against the home town team in front of a hostile crowd.

This is the exact scenario that Providence College took advantage of two years ago, where they were the lowest-team in the tournament but got to play their first two games in Providence and eventually went on the win it all.

Hickey looked pretty good in the first. BU is down 1-0 to ND after 1.

NoDak scored a late one and goes into the first intermission up 1-0.

If BU loses today, it could be Hickey's final College game (although, he does still have one more year of eligibility).

BU scores two goals early in the third and now lead 3-1.

Harvard got a late PP in the first and scored early in the second on it. Fox had an assist, which means he's guaranteed to finish with a point-per-game average greater than 1.0.

He should have had an assist when he sent in Donato only to get stopped by the post. Fox picked up the rebound and potted it for himself though.

3-3 in North Dakota.

It seems that Hickey is out there every time a tire fire starts in BU's end.

BU blows the 3-1 lead. ND has tied it up with 4:30 left in the third.

There was a long delay about halfway through the third after a pane of glass shattered. UND has taken over since the delay.

Hickey's season is over as ND completes the comeback and wins in OT

Let the signing watch commence

Like a teen girl wearing a turtleneck, it's time for a Hickey watch.

Whoops! Goal was called back on an offside review. BU is still alive.

Hickey gets 2 minutes for battling too hard, but BU kills it off and we're going to 2OT.

Brad E. Schlossman‏ @SchlossmanGF
Boston University defenseman Brandon Hickey has blocked 17 shots today... so far. My goodness, that's a season for some guys.
