Reminder that Hungary is this weekend!! Then its the summer break and silly season
Some notes from past week:
FIA to mandate time penalty for unsafe release...I like this decision. Leclerc couldve really done some damage had he hit Grosjean. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/f...clerc/4505397/
Good lord, FIA isnt hearing the Alfa appeal on the clutch issue at Germany until Sept 24th...how the F does it take 2 months to review that. It's a points change for 6 cars and it should be really more of a priority. Alfa still sounds very confident, but I dont know how they'll win it.
Just watching the first action in FP2 (30m left in 90m)...its wet again :-) Lots of spins in FP1, Bottas had an engine issue, and not much for teams to learn from what I've read. It really looks like it could be a crap shoot for the race again. There's supposed to be rain tomorrow am for FP3 and Qualifying. Funday is supposed to be sunny tho.
Man I miss Budapest...if people want a great city along with F1 I would imagine this would be a ton of fun.
Decent race overall...Bottas couldnt get a break if he hit his hand with a hammer. I think he's gonna lose his seat to Ocon after that drive. Two errors on the first 3 corners and then he doesnt squeeze out Hamilton.
Verstappen is looking like a world beater right now. That team and his driving are peaking. Hope the break doesnt screw up his momentum...speaking of which. Gasly also has to be done at RBR. Finished behind Sainz...
And kudos to the TR boys. That wheel to wheel driving with Albon and Kvyat was awesome. I hope Haas takes note...lol.
Even Williams, or at least Russell, are taking big steps forward. They beat Stroll and Giovannazi.
Here's the latest results from the Pool...3thirty had a monster week, nice job. Took out a commanding 60pt lead as Bottas got mine all wrong (fuuuuuu). 3thirty also gapped Jayswin on the total right as he got 9/10 this week.
See y'all in 3 weeks for SPA!!!!
Spoiler!

I only started getting into F1 this year. Admittedly after watching the Netflix series. I haven't missed a race this season since. Absolutely hooked now.
Since day 1, Verstappen has always rubbed me the wrong way though. Just seemed like a real jerk for some reason. Just unlikable - pure and simple.
But now it's impossible to ignore his success and his massive fanbase.
So, did I get the wrong first impression? Should I get on the Verstappen bandwagon?

He's mostly rubbed me the wrong way since he showed up. He's had some incredible drives, but also some really questionable moves, though a lot less this season. Most of the best drivers have a lot of arrogance to them, and aren't really good at losing.
I'm not sure I could ever be a Max fan, the same way I understand how people could feel the same way about me being a Lewis fan. But I don't like Lewis the same way I like Button, or Alonso, or Kimi.
Anyway, yes, you could jump on the Max bandwagon, or you could cheer for someone you actually like. Sometimes it's more fun to celebrate the success of a guy like Kyvat who had no business in that car being on the podium than someone who wins all the time.
