Interesting point but maybe offset by them not needing the work if they're first few contracts were guaranteed?

I believe guaranteed contracts are a hill the league is willing to die on. A good solution is slashing a year or two off of rookie contracts. Give players the opportunity for two paydays before 30 as opposed to one.

Meh. A lot of the negatives picked out happens to lots of teams over the course of a season and trying to make the Cooper trade a negative is lol territory. I don't have any defense of Tom Cable being employed but if the OL doesn't improve this season he will be gone and if the OL being bad this year is what it takes to get him fired it may be worth it IMO. Sucks for Oakland fans but all the moves that have been made since Gruden took over has been made to ensure they are competitive in their new stadium as they have another two first round picks in the 2020 draft. They have arguably the worst schedule in the history of the NFL this season (travel more miles than the Bills, Jets, and Giants combined) and after week 2 they don't play in Oakland again until week 8 which is unprecedented so even if they improve it's not likely going to result into more than 6 wins. The 2019 season unfortunately is a bit of a write off.

Yeah, I've been doing my annual preseason homework where I try to project wins for each team (more on that at a future date) and one of the things I noticed for the Raiders is that the majority of their home games are against some of the better teams in the league and their weaker opponents involve them either travelling quite a ways or playing an early morning game. The advanced metrics don't really give them much hope either as there's nothing to really indicate that they're due for positive regression outside of their fumble recovery rate from last year.
Gonna be another tough year I think unless a lot of lucky bounces go their way or all of their first round picks turn into superstars this year.

That’s a real shame for the Chargers, Gordon has officially requested a trade. Ah well I'm sure it’ll work itself out in the end.

For that to happen there has to be takers willing to give him the money he's looking for. I just don't see the market for an oft-injured RB looking for a big payday. We were discussing on a Raiders forum the possibility of Elliott being traded but what team is going to want to give up a 1st round pick (or whatever the expected return would be) for a guy that wants to be the highest paid RB in the league and is one mistake away from a lengthy suspension? I don't think there's a big trade market for RB's in general. I think Gordon has no leverage because the Chargers will be business as usual without him but the Cowboys on the other hand without Elliott won't make the playoffs so Elliott would be wise to hold out until the Cowboys stumble as we all know time isn't on Jerry's side and this is a big year for that team as once they pay Prescott, Elliott, and Cooper they will probably have to cut lose some quality players to make room and it's hard to imagine their roster being as good going forward.

Didn't you basically say all the same stuff about Mack last year?

Apparently Antonio Brown’s feet are wicked gross looking and he’s seeing a foot specialist. I’m sure this is nothing and it won’t lead to excuses for why the Raiders are 5-10 or so again this year. He’ll be back and good as ever in no time.

Don't think so. Can you elaborate as there was a trade market for Mack (Jets were also very interested) where I don't see for Gordon or even Elliott at the expected demands. Mack really didn't have leverage and it was Gruden's call to trade him as McKenzie and Davis wanted to give him a contract and would have waited him out. I don't think many teams operate the same as Gruden who is more driven by ego than smarts.

Whats the deal with DAZN? Is it just the redzone channel? Or do you get all the games as well?
I have an Xbox in my projector/theatre room and Smart tv in the bonus room. I am assuming these can get the DAZN apps? How good is the quality?

All games. It's basically NFL Gamepass.

I have been investigating getting DAZN again so I can watch Hard Knocks and it seems the service really only works well on a PC. On a TV the quality is generally poor somewhere just below 720p at 25-30 fps as they supposedly use European servers. Some say it's the worst when streamed from consoles. Two years ago when it first came out I tried PS4, Xbox One, and Apple TV and found all substandard to the point I quit the service when the NFL let cable broadcasters have Sunday Ticket back after numerous complaints.

That is sort of what I am afraid of. But with my new theatre room set up I want to be able to watch any game I want or red zone.
Maybe I will sign up for the free month and go from there.

Really? I found it works much better from my PS4 than it does from the web browser on my PC. Chromecast works pretty well, too.

This is just what I gathered from reddit discussions. For me it was bad all around but I didn't try PC.

For a free month it's definitely worth a try as it seems like one or two in a hundred people seem to be satisfied with it as you could be one of the few.

Were you hardwired or WiFi? That said, I'm expecting week 1 of the NFL season to be a complete joke, as it usually is. Might just go to the pub for that one.

NFL has never been great.
I found the soccer quality on my PS4 to be fine for Champions League games last year.
Hopefully they've figured out the capacity issues that I think hurt the NFL quality
