Honestly have these Gm scouting another team rumors ever actually resulted in a trade?

Kane is a bit one dimensional but I think it's a dimension the Flames really need -- a fast, top line, shoot-first winger. And he doesn't back down to anyone. He's been scoring at a 40 goal pace for the last 90 games now.

Going to guess opposite of a block buster, maybe Chad Johnson 50% for Lack and something?

I expect the D to sort themselves out. Hamonic is still adjusting and Brodie will emerge from his brain cramp stage soon I expect.

Do you really have to be at back to back Buffalo games watching a back up goalie that you had last year to know what you're getting?

Would guess it has nothing to do with Chad Johnson.

Or he is there to watch Columbus.

It would be cool to upgrade Backlund with O'Reilly as much as I love Backs. I wonder what kind of cost that would take... assuming Buffalo is willing to meet Backlund's price and he is effectively signed there would still be a value gap.

Upgrade? Backlund has been better than ROR since at least the start of last season.

He's also not going to cost $7.5 million per season.

Our Sam is better than their Sam...that said, I'd love to get their Sam for a deal involving one of our defensive prospects (not Valimaki).

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Bennett - Jankowski - Jagr
Versteeg - Reinhart - Lazar/Brouwer

then next year:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Bennett - Jankowski - Reinhart
??????? - Lazar - Hathaway

Treliving is all about identifying weaknesses, and then getting to work on addressing them. If I was in Treliving's shoes, I'd look at working on fixing these 3 things:

- Backup goalie
- 4th line is a liability
- One-timer on the PP

however, the team does seem to like Lack and the PP is producing at a somewhat acceptable rate - which leaves the 4th line being a liability whenever they're on the ice. Reinhart could fix that.

There's a fear the Flames can't sign Backlund but they can afford $7.5m of O'Reilly?
Was also going to ask how Reinhart fits in so thanks to ComixZone for helping with that.

Girgensons could use a change of scenery too. Wasn't there something about Bailey to the Flames a while ago too?

Johnson is wishful thinking, but more likely a 4th liner swap of some kind.

Kane is UFA after this year so he wouldn't be crazy expensive. And there's probably no one in the history of the league more motivated by a contract year.

I'd happily take him for the season then let him go to FA.
