Anyone live in Chestermere?might buy a home there...
Moving there soon and debating about buying in Chestermere. I'll be operating my business so scooting around town lots but don't want to pay inner city prices. Anyone live there and or anyone know anyone there that has thoughts??
Thanks!

Haha, chill. It's Christmas, there's not a lot of people on. You'll get some responses. And a lot of jokes I'm sure.
I'd help, but I don't wanna...
(to be honest, I don't really have any information for you. I guess if your going to pick any of the suburbs, Chestemere would be the best as far as getting round Calgary, as your kinda central on the east side)

Lol. Sounds like a terrible place to live. Just imagine having to always say "Chester" each time you have to give your address. Chester! Lol.

This response won't be very helpful, but I think Chestermere is a pretty great area. I've done some work out there and it's easy to get in and outta the city. Pretty relaxing drive

Yeah, it's a nice area for sure, I just don't know much about housing prices and such. And for me, I do like living closer to the city. But it sure kicks butt on Airdrie!
Hey, does anyone here have any opinions on Airdrie?

Nice area. The only downside I can think of is that your closest shopping centres are in Forest Lawn and the NE which aren't as upscale.

I live there and like it. It's quiet and really close to the city. Access to 3 good ways to get into the city, and close to Stoney Trail as well.
Pretty much zero for restaurants at this point, Boston Pizza and a few pub type places. One of the Vietnamese places is not bad. Some fast food places.
Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart, and a No Frills for shopping. A WalMart recently opened on the outskirts of Calgary between there and Chestermere, so that's convenient too.
It is on the east side so if you want to go anywhere upscale, as mentioned, it's a longer drive.
People are pretty nice, but not really a small town kind of people IMO.
Not sure what kinds of things you're looking for.

I have nothing to add other then I haven't lived in Chestermere fill time since I left for university a decade ago. My parents still live there. But it's really grown in the last few years.

I can see how you needed to start a second thread about moving to/near Calgary, complete with the Leafs logo. Maybe you'd get better responses if you weren't on a Calgary Flames' fan site and touting how much you love the Leafs. It's a very Toronto thing to do, and adds nothing to the reason you're moving here. Since all your posts since you've joined here are you asking for help, it makes me question why a Leafs fan would joins Flames site unless all you want is to take away stuff without contributing to the community. It's also weird that right after you join you're telling people how you want them to respond to your requests.

Perhaps the OP joined because she felt that this forum would be a good resource for questions regarding moving to Chestermere, which it has proven to be. Who cares what logo they use and that they admit they're a Leafs fan? It takes absolutely nothing away from her question. Your response is pretty pretentious.

Thank you for that. Those are my thoughts exactly. I also am new to the site and had no idea how to use it.. I figured I would use an icon I could see easily when trying to find my thread.... I mean no offense to anyone. I just truly need help. Been in Edmonton.. Fort Mac.. Never Calgary to live. and a short time to make a decision as we are porting a mortgage!
Very sorry that the flames are not my absolute first choice... Western conference maybe? Lol. This isn't about hockey.

Property taxes are a fair amount more in Chestermere than Calgary

Chestermere may be changing a fair bit within the next 10-20 years since an area structure plan has been established between east of Stoney Trail and the Chestermere boundary. So if you're looking at this as a long term investment, the area between Chestermere and Calgary could become very urbanized while you're there, which could effect Chestermere itself, and the property value.
