Default Day 6 (PM of July 28 - AM of July 29)

We have a packed evening for tonight!!

The Men’s Golf Tournament begins at 16:30. Canadian Corey Conners tees off at 17:41 paired with Australian Marc Leishman and Japanese Green Jacket winner Hideki Matsuyama. Mackenzie Hughes tees off at 18:47.

At 18:00 the Women’s 25m Pistol Qualification begins. Calgarian Lynda Kiejko competes for Canada.

The Round of 16 in Women’s Singles Badminton begin at 18:00, Canada’s Michelle Li is expected to compete at 18:45.

The A Final for the Men’s Pair Rowing is scheduled to start at 18:18. Conlin McCabe and Kai Langerfield will be in Lane 1. At 18:30 the A Final in Women’s Pair Rowing will start, Caileigh Filmer and Hillary Janssens will be in Lane 1.

Canada’s Women’s Rugby 7’s team begins their tournament with a match against Brazil at 18:30.

Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Parades compete for Canada in Beach Volleyball at 19:00 in a match against a Swiss team to decide the top team in Pool A.

Canada’s Women’s Basketball team competes in their second game of the tournament against South Korea at 19:00.

The Quarterfinals in Men’s BMX Racing starts at 19:00. Canadian James Palmer races in Heat 2.

Also at 19:00 Canada faces Belgium in Men’s Field Hockey.

The Quarterfinals in Women’s BMX Racing start at 19:21, Canadian Drew Mechielsen will race in Heat 2.

The Semifinals of the Women’s Single Sculls begin at 19:30. Carling Zeeman will be in the second race.

Also at 19:30 Swimming begins with the Men’s 800m Freestyle Final. The Men’s 200m Breaststroke Final will begin at 19:44. The Semifinals for the Women’s 100m Freestyle start at 19:53, Penny Oleksiak and Kayla Sanchez qualified for the semifinals. Markus Thormeyer swims in the first race of the Semifinal for the Men’s 200m Backstroke starting at 20:04. The Women’s 200m Butterfly Final begins at 20:28. At 20:37 the Men’s 100m Freestyle Final will begin. The Women’s 200m Breaststroke Semifinals begin at 20:54. The Men’s 200m Individual Medley Semifinals start at 21:08. The Final for the Women’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay is scheduled to begin at 21:31, Canada will be in Lane 6.

At 19:50 the Quarterfinals of the Women’s Team Foil Fencing begins, Canada takes on France.

At 20:00 the Men’s 100kg Judo Round of 32 begins, Shady El-Nahas has a match against a competitor from the UAE scheduled for 20:07. The Gold Medal Match will begin at 03:50.

The Semifinals for the Men’s Single Sculls start at 20:00.

The Semifinal in Women’s C1 Slalom starts at 23:00. The Final will begin at 00:55.

Canada takes on Fiji in Women’s Rugby 7’s at 01:30.

At 04:02 the Heats for the Women’s 800m Freestyle will begin. Summer McIntosh swims in Heat 2. At 04:42 the Heats for the Men’s 100m Butterfly begin, Josh Liendo is in Heat 7. At 05:02 the Women’s 200m Backstroke Heats begin, Taylor Ruck and Kylie Masse are in Heat 4. At 05:17 the Mixed 4x 100m Medley Relay will begin, Canada is in Heat 1.

God no, I’d love it (other than the fact I’m not an athlete) but nobody wants to see my ugly bald head on tv! But it isn’t too early to think about the flag bearer question for the closing ceremonies… I do wonder if the fact that athletes are being asked to leave the Olympic Village following their competitions because of covid will factor in the flag bearer decisions.

It's a fascinating stat that shows how far ahead the women are ahead of the men when it comes to the Summer Olympics.

Once the men finally win a medal, I'll be cheering just as hard

So right now we’ve got beach volleyball now on TSN2, the Basketball game on TSN, Field Hockey on SN1, and CBC is showing a replay of the rowing, I imagine they will switch to cover the swimming live in 30 minutes.
