I guess his first lesson won't be, "How to win at the Honda Center."

What the hell kind of role is this? Will be be in the dressing room and seeing games in person? I’m guessing no.

Tells Eakins what systems to implement then calls him after each game to tell him what he did wrong

I bet they wanted him as a coach and he didn't want to leave Alberta.
So they're paying him to advise Eakins long distance.

Maybe. There are some things you can do remotely. Coaching wouldn’t be one of them IMO.

There was something odd about how long it took to announce Eakins as their head coach given it was rumored to be a done deal since the end of the season. You get the feeling they had someone else in mind and had to settle on Eakins.

Haha!
'Coaching Advisor' is basically just free money that keeps Sutter in his LA home and keeps the Sword of Damocles hanging above Eakins.

What it does is put Sutter back in the driver's seat. Guess we can count on Anaheim getting back to the finals in a couple years.

Last I heard, Darryl was back running his 3,000-acre farm in Viking, Ab

Like every other farmer near viking he has his place in the southwestern US as well. His just happens to be in LA instead of a fifth wheel in Arizona

Agreed. I wonder if Murray tried to coax Sutter out of retirement (he and the Ducks were rumored before) and when Darryl refused he was talked into taking this role which Murray likely views as a safety net. Having Sutter on a retainer so to speak.
