Multiple teams. Multiple options be sorted through by the Hall camp this morning. Working on carving out a short list of clubs.

Hall will be an interesting on, with him saying he's open to shorter term deals which I think is smart, that'll give him more options and he'll still be in his prime again he's a UFA next ( andwhen the cap starts going up again) making him get an even bigger payday
Still could mean Calgary could make something work, but I imagine Toffoli is a better fit resulting is less cap having to be moved out somehow

As it stands now, I think the locks for opening night are:
Giordano
Andersson
Hanifin
Tanev
Valimaki
I think the 6/7 spots will/should be a battle between Kylington, Mackey, and Petrovic.

Trade Hanifin for draft picks and use the cap space for Hall. My wish.

There are many ways you can create cap space. You stay in on guys you want and worry about moving dollars if you land them.

I dont think Tre is finished yet...but he may just wait it out a bit and see what shakes loose from teams after they make some signings.
He filled two of the 3 big holes yesterday and now can play the long game to finish up.
I still think a trade is coming though. The core is still the same and i cant imagine he is willing to go into the next season hoping for different results from them. Or I could be completely wrong on that and he still believes they can.

I could see Oilers going after Kuemper. Arizona has to shed a lot of money to get down to the mandated internal cap of $70 million. Also maybe Fleury. Vegas still needs to shed cap space.

Wonder what Canucks would offer for Markstrom and Tanev? retain a mill on each. Re-create cap space and get free assets .

Why?
Look at the defense without him.
Giordano - Tanev
??????? - Andersson
Valimaki - ??????
That is a very thin group and hoping a Kylington/Mackey/Poolman/Yelesin can just slide in and play full time minutes is a fools errand. Nevermind that we have no idea if Valimaki is ready for such a role yet.
Even WITH Hanifin there needs to be at least one more addition.

Yeah my guess is they go after Fleury.
Sounds like Vegas will retain half which makes him a very attractive short term option.

Because after we sign Hall, we’re trading Gaudreau for Frost and Sanheim and a pick...silly Transplant!

If sign Hall but you need to trade 2nds to dump Ryan and Rittich then you do it. Adding Hall is easily worth 2 2nds and Ryan and rittich.
I'm also still ok trading Gaudreau for picks and prospects too.
I'd be ok trading hanifin too if we could add a cheap vet to play with Anderson. Valimaki missed an entire year so I'm not sure we can rely on him to play big mins right from start of season
There are still options to add Hall imo

Scenarios for Signing Taylor Hall:
Everyone is thinking we need to trade Johnny to acquire Hall, not so...
Flames can move Hanifin & Rittich to bring in Taylor. (+ Ryan for 1 million Vet D)
Hall (7.0) - Backlund - Tkachuk
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Dubé - Bennett - Mangiapane (2.25)
Lucic - Gawdin (.700) - Rinaldo
Robinson
Giordano - Tanev
Välimäki - Andersson
Kylington (.790) - Vet D (1.0)
Petrovic
Markstrom
Zagidulin
Cap Hit: $79,914,166
Buyouts: $2,666,667
Bonuses: $882,500
Cap Space: $1,735,834
Or, trade Bennett & Rittich (+ Ryan for a cheaper Vet C)
Hall (7.0) - Backlund - Tkachuk
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Dubé - Vet C (1.0) - Mangiapane (2.25)
Lucic - Gawdin (.700) - Rinaldo
Robinson
Giordano - Tanev
Hanifin - Andersson
Välimäki - Kylington (.790)
Petrovic
Markstrom
Zagidulin
Cap Hit: $81,214,166
Buyouts: $2,666,667
Bonuses: $882,500
Cap Space: $285,834
If this seems too tight to squeeze in, maybe Treliving tries to trade both Bennett & Hanifin (again)
^ I would rather Brad do that than trade Johnny Hockey.

Jersey has lots of cap room and needs bodies .... I suggested Johnny and Kylington for Nolan Foote, another prospect and a 1st.

Signing Hall and trading Gaudreau for quality picks/prospects to restock the cupboards is the move we should make.

Even if the trading of Gaudreau is less than a home run, say all we get is a late first round pick and a top prospect - it's still a good move if we've locked up Hall long-term.
Gaudreau's contract status, and this team's need to alter it's core should still be a big goal this off-season.
