As long as it doesn't turn out milquetoast, I'm fine with it.

He checks a ton of the boxes but analytically speaking he is a terrible player.

These aren’t college boys who are thinking about the after-game kegger.
Johnny’s a -really- small guy, and he’s taken a lot of punishment over his first few years in the NHL. It’s really no surprise he’s turned into a perimeter player.
I’ve often said I’d love to see Johnny and Chucky on the same line. I think Tkachuk would just demolish anyone who took a run at Johnny.

I don’t see it this way at all. Gaudreau is extremely competitive. He’s not going to get any Selke votes ever, but how many elite scoring wingers are known for their good defensive play. Heck Kucherov spends half of his defensive zone shifts cherry picking out at center ice.
Also, Gaudreau may be small, but he’s also extremely elusive and always has head up. There’s a reason he’s so durable and has only been injured on a dirty slash to his finger. A guy like Taylor Hall on the other hand is the exact opposite, he’s just as talented and even though he’s bigger, he plays recklessly and is extremely injury prone.
Gaudreau has always been a perimeter player. But he’s one of the best perimeter players in the game, so he can get away with it. It’s usually the lesser talented guys who generally have to play in the muck. But that doesn’t mean he can’t still be effective. Geoff Ward’s style is all about puck pursuit and forechecking for your chances, maybe Gaudreau just needs to start playing with players who are harder and faster on pucks.

Francis said he asked Treliving if he was done, and Treliving said no that this won't be the team they go into camp with.

There's still a month left to work the phones before training camps are estimated to start. Then again, he could totally just mean "Yeah I'm gonna be signing one or two PTOs."

I think it is Hanifin that gets dealt. Unless there is really hard feelings between the team and Hamonic I could see him being signed cheap to be the third pair RHD. Valimaki moves into the top 4 and Kylington/Mackey are your third pair lefty.
Pushing Mangipane and Lucic down the lineup would be ideal so adding a top 6 RW would be my target.

Yes, way more depth is incoming. Calgary is at 39 contracts with only Kylington left to sign, and Pelletier and Wolf's contract will slide, so as many as 12 contracts can still be added to the Flames system.

I just really don’t want Hamonic back. Nothing against the guy it’s just I feel like everyone he plays with lowers their game/hampers their development.
I’d just completely move on from him.

Eklund saying a big trade could be coming in next 2 hours. That obviously means no trade but I’ll probably keep checking anyways. Lol

I wouldn’t expect more than a couple to be signed. They don’t even know if they have anywhere to put some of these guys for next year.

^^ Flyers tweeted that Nolan Patrick signed his QO. Probably that great Gaudreau for Voracek ++ trade we've heard so much about

Thankfully we do not have the cap space to make this trade now!

I do wonder if Hall picking an unexpected location like Buffalo might be the best thing to happen to Gaudreau trade talks. If you were a team that thought they had a chance for a top scoring LW like Hall, and opened up space for him, now you might circle back on Gaudreau.
Nashville, Boston, & Columbus were all rumoured to have a lot of interest in Hall and have the open cap space.
