No high density economy seating like the rest of us get wedged into. That’s a sweet looking bird even if is has hair dryers for engines.

Seventeen year old solo student pilot loses her right main gear on her Piper 28 after departure. Great work by her, ATC, and her instructors to walk her through to a safe landing. Audio on this link: https://twitter.com/TomPodolec/statu...13800362561536

Ladies and gentlemen, as we start our descent, please make sure the potted plants are in their full upright position. Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened and all deviled eggs are stowed underneath the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. Thank you

lmaooo NTSB roasting everybody

YYC NOTAM file at this very moment. A couple somewhat important things but they're buried in a pile of garbage, indeed:

Spoiler!

Like the Stampede and Calgary SIDS are literally weeks old, why is there a pile of dumb text amending the whole thing in a notam already? Good lord, ours are far worse than in the US.

This is a bit of a long shot but thought the CP Braintrust might come through.

We've experienced a death in the family. My father's cousin (my first cousin once removed) passed away suddenly last week.

We were somewhat close, he and my dad were very close.

Trying to figure out how to get from Sydney (YQY) to ideally London (YXU) or alternatively Pearson (YYZ).

The funeral is Tuesday so ideally up Monday October 1 and return Wednesday October 3.

Airfare looks to be running us $1,700 for both of us, which just isn't in the cards. Aeroplan availability is non-existent unless we redeem business class which my folks don't have enough points for.

Anyone good at finding the uber last minute deals (which I don't think exist) or a wiz with Aeroplan?

Again I think we're stuck here but I'm trying for dad.

Sorry for your loss.

Have you checked Hamilton or Waterloo Airports?

Looks like both AC and WestJet offer some form of bereavement fares. You have to call them to book by what I can see.

Yes I've tried both Hamilton and Waterloo. Hamilton requires an over night in Montreal as the only flight to Hamilton is early in the morning.

The only flight to Waterloo is a WestJet flight from Calgary which is a bit of a trek for someone from Nova Scotia.

I did look into bereavement fares but they don't cover cousin or first-cousin once removed. Which is understandable. (WestJet covers aunt/uncle which is above Air Canada).

I'm going to keep my eye on Aeroplan, I did call them but apparently they have the same availability that we see ourselves.
