Dougie didn't handle the Freddie trade very well, apparently.

Hanifin > Hamilton
Lindholm > Ferland
Fox isn't a throw in, he balances things out.
If he turns into less than a top 4 defender this is a clear and decisive flames win.

No, their opinion is that Hanifin v. Hamilton isn't the ripoff some others were claiming. I haven't read anything saying Hamilton sucked. Because he didn't.

Hanifin was on Sportsnet 960. I'm sure there'll be a clip up on their site shortly.

Now that's a nice young core moving forward.

Well, Fox is already moot from the Flames side of the trade as it was just revealed that he wasn't signing here. He was zero value asset for us that we used to get this deal done.
So from our side it's Hamilton/Ferland for Hanifin/Lindhom

Fox wouldn't sign here, but gets shipped to Carolina, the American hockey team equivalent of Ottawa. I'm quite happy with Treliving for doing that.

As clear as it can get imo. Hamilton didn't want to stay here.

On the surface I was left thinking ‘surely there is a 2nd rounder coming our way too’, considering our trading partner is desperate to make a splash.
Obviously there is more to the story. One of the biggest issues plaguing this group has been stepping up when things get tough. Whatever Dougie ‘issues’ aside, I am going to assume that Peters feels that Lindholm and Hanifin have very high GAF.

The other important thing to remember is to step back from the value of the assets and think about what Ferland and Hamilton represent and what Treliving said was going to change this summer;
These are two players that can play at a high level, but choose not to for significant periods of time. When Treliving said this last month I immediately thought of these two names.
I think these two players were being traded this summer regardless of whether it was this trade or another.

Well he is an East coast kid, so my guess is that Carolina actually has a much better chance of signing him than Calgary would.
Im guessing his "representatives" were his parents and they likely didn't want him going so far from home as opposed to being out East and/or completing his degree at Harvard.

I was most happy hearing in Noah Hanifin’s interview that he is really good friends with both Gaudreau and Tkachuk. This is a big “chemistry” trade, and I think having a player like Hanifin in the fold long term also dramatically improves the Flames’s ability to keep Gaudreau past his current deal. Chemistry matters.

Literally everything in this post is speculation/rumour.
Typically when fans/media go to these lengths to justify trades, it's to justify losing a trade - just like the Boston media did in 2015.

Yep, and honestly, the radio crews have been relentless in setting this up without spilling the beans since the season ended. "Oh you'll be surprised who it is once they're moved".
Relentless Dougie speculation. I mean f the people actually listened, they'd knew it was coming.

He wasn't a zero asset value for us. That's like saying a dollar has zero value if you don't intend to spend it.
