Taking a while to get to 5000

Would be thrilled to see the Flames beat Miller in Anaheim to break the curse.

They probably just need to get him away from Brouwer for a bit too and hope that his PDO normalizes.
Bennett + Brouwer: GF%: 42.9% CF%: 44.4%
Bennett Without Brouwer: GF%: 35.7% CF% 51.7%
It is a really good sign that when Bennett isn't playing with Brouwer his possession percentage jumps up to 51.7%.
The part that buried him this year was the shooting percentage and save percentage when he was on the ice. Team only had a 6.28% shooting percentage, and a .905 save percentage with him on the ice for a combined PDO of 96.8%.
His PDO was the lowest on the team with the next lowest regular forward being Chiasson at 97.9%. Considering PDO is supposed to be around 100 it appears that Bennett was also hurt by the percentages/bad luck a lot this season.

A Brown for Phaneuf trade? Jesus, Ottawa needs someone to play with Karlsson.

Yeah I don't get that one at all.
Phaneuf is at least serviceable - he only had 6 fewer points than Brown as a d-man last year.
Personally I would rather pay Phaneuf $7M for the next 4 years, then pay Brown $5.8M for the next 5.

Erik Karlsson will need a hard hitting shutdown defense partner... the next Robyn Regehr... Patrick Sieloff

I can't see that being a real rumour.
Phaneuf still actually does a good job at his role.

Here's a rumour du jour (take with grain of salt as heard from a friend who was chatting with someone who is connected to Conroy):
Price does not want to re-sign in Montreal and would like to play for a team out west....

Montreal would ask a king's ransom for Price.

The way I heard it he would play one more year for the Habs and become a UFA. Does he have a no-trade clause?

Unfortunately for Montreal he is a UFA next year and if he does not sign an extension he is free to go to the highest bidding team.

You would think that if Price gave indications to Montreal that he would not be signing with them, they would trade him to a team that he would sign with before losing him for nothing.

unless Montreal ponies up 10 million plus for him, he's gone. As much as we say that goalies are on a different pay scale then other positions, Price is different, he is a genuine dominant game changing, carry my team on my back goalie.

If Price wanted to go to UFA, Vancouver would be pulling the Brinks truck up to his house. Plenty of money off the books for them in a year.
Also assuming he wants to play for his home (province).

This does not surprise me in the least.
He and his wife are both from out West, and apparently she did an interview a while back where she stated they one day would like to head back this way. Not sure if she meant after his playing days are over or sooner.
Plus, the Habs are garbage. When he's in the line up they are a division winning 100+ point team, with him out of the line up they are a lottery ball watching, playoff missing 80ish point team.

If Price did want to leave though, it's almost better he didn't say anything. The team he would be traded to would have to give up a lot to get him and it would hurt that new team. Price hasn't won a cup yet and it would be better for him if he signed elsewhere in the offseason, then to be traded before that.

I doubt he wants to go smack dab into the middle of a rebuild at 30 years old.
