I believe I stopped watching around season 7 or 8. At the time it felt like I'd been watching it most of my life. It's hard for me to accept that that stretch was less than 1/3 of its life cycle.

Of course it is not as good as it once was, it's been on for 26 years, but I do think that it still has it's moments. While I don't always watch, I find that when I do I still end up laughing.

Hilarious they're going to keep going, and just recast the characters' voices.
This makes me think of a Mel Brooks quote in Spaceballs, which they should just probably change the title to at this point; The Simpsons: The Search for More Money
I don't get it. I don't remember the last time someone said "did you watch the simpsons last night?"... Must have been at least 10 years ago.
I watch old and new episodes with my kid although now-a-days I don't really care if I miss a new episode.
The only episode over the last few years that I really tried not to miss and was excited about was the Simpson/Family Guy crossover. That episode ended up being a huge disappointment though.
Can the producers find old sound clips with the same lines and dub them into the new episodes?
Haha! I'm thinking of the Radioactive Man movie episode, where the editor shows the producers how they can finish the movie using already shot footage.
"You're fired."
"And with good cause!"

^ Same here. If it upsets people that it's still on and there hasn't been a good season in ''10 years'', then don't watch it. Mark my words, the day the Simpsons finally does end, everyone will be sad and will immediately miss having it on TV. Just thinking about going through my TV listings without seeing Simpsons on it makes me depressed.
I PVR every new episode and while I might not watch it religiously on Sunday night, every once in a while I'll have it on in the background as I'm doing something else and I still find the jokes witty and funny. The show could go on for another 20 years and I'd still be happy about it.

I think that's what everyone is saying?
"How is it still on, I haven't heard of anyone watching new episodes in the last decade"
It'll still be on TV forever. It's got a million episodes and is syndicated by pretty much every network in every country. Eventually Netflix will carry it too.
The Simpsons had a long, long......long triumphant run. Losing Shearer sounds like the beginning of the end. How can they continue with that load of characters gone?

"Deep Space Homer" and "Marge vs the Monorail" are the negative outliers? That's absurd. Both absolute classics.
