Default American Gods TV Series: Starz

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1898069/

American Gods has been picked up by Starz. Passed by HBO.

Starz is investing in Neil Gaiman's American Gods.
The premium cable network and writer-producers Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and Michael Green (The River, Heroes) have boarded FremantleMedia North America's adaptation of Gaiman's urban fantasy novel American Gods.

I'm really looking forward to this.

I liked the book and Fuller has made some amazing tv over the years. He has a great ability to take strange fantastical premises and tell grounded, human stories.

Hannibal is so good and pushes the limit so far that you forget it's a broadcast network show.

I read the book, it was interesting but overall I didn't really get it. Maybe I'm too literal minded but I like my worldbuilding to be self consistent or at least have enough to show the actual outlines... Instead it felt like taking mythology books from across time and space and stuffing them into a blender and hitting frappé. Maybe because I don't know enough about the various mythologies to pick up on a bunch of information that would have helped.

EDIT: So may a TV series would be good, help me understand better? Or maybe make it worse, because there is nothing behind what's going on, it's just a bunch of cool mythologies thrown together.

There is so much good attached to this. From a genius writer to the director responsible for the brilliant first season of Heroes. The only issue is the translation from book to screenplay, which is why HBO dropped it or Neil decided to leave because HBO wanted changes that he didn't like (his words) so there is that promise. I read the book so long ago that I forgot the details. I just remembered how much I loved its creativity. I might have to jump back on it as a refresher.

Here is a neat write up by a friend of mine.

Of course. Starz is the one network I don't subscribe to.
