Oliver Kylington Is One Calgary Flames UFA No One Is Talking About Trading

Despite the fact he’s also working on the last year of his current deal and could become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, Kylington is unlikely to leave the Flames.

Report: Bruins’ Trade Target Headed To UFA Market

Boston Bruins NHL trade target and Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin reportedly plans to hit the 2024 unrestricted free agent market on July 1.

In his weekly appearance on Sportsnet’s ‘Saturday Headlines’, Sportsnet NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reported that while neither player nor team had confirmed it yet, all of the intel he gathered pointed towards the 27-year-old Norwood, MA native becoming a UFA next July.

‘It’s nothing on him, and who knows what it will look like the next game’: Flames head coach Ryan Huska on Kuzmenko’s demotion against Winnipeg Jets

Kuzmenko, who has 24 points in 49 total games this season and three points (all goals) in six games with the Flames so far, started out hot but has cooled off recently, with three of his last five games going without a point.

An open letter to Murray Edwards: It’s time to adopt a new philosophy for the Calgary Flames

It’s quite obvious that the mandate from ownership is just to make the playoffs and see what happens. But in today’s NHL, even making the playoffs is a tough task. As the NHL has expanded, so does the number of teams that miss the playoffs every year. You have to be a pretty good team to just make the playoffs, let alone win a Stanley Cup.

And look, I get it. We’ve seen some teams make it and go on an absolute heater. But I think the difference between the Flames and say the Florida Panthers last year is that the Panthers had/still have elite talent. So, maybe this team treads in the mushy middle and makes the playoffs and goes on a huge run one season. Weirder things have happened. But I wouldn’t be placing my bets on it, especially as the long-term contracts on this team continue to get older.

It’s my birthday today so that means a 5-4 OT thriller with Kuzmenko from Huberdeau in overtime and some hilarious interviews with Kuzmenko. It also means an amazing trade shortly and the Oilers magically careening out of a playoff spot by losing 10 in a row. Fairly simple birthday request..

I think most people believe OK will re-sign with Calgary at a good price.

The Bruins are going to be tired, a bit beat up, and satisfied with a win from last night.

To counter this, the Flames will sit Hanifin & Tanev and start Vladar.

And then lay an egg this weekend against the team they should always be motivated to play against.

I definitely know we won't get a late PP. And probably will get caught for every infraction. Go Flames. Have a good game.

It's "quite obvious"? Based on past history under past administrations, or based on present actions by the current GM?

When a team trades away their top centre, this is not an"obvious" sign that they are all in on just making the playoffs.

Absolutely no need to rush him back, hopefully, the Flames have learnt their lesson from playing Monahan when he should have been resting up.
