WHAT TO EXPECT FROM RYAN BORUCKI

Quote:
Borucki was considered to be the second-best HS Pitching prospect in Illinois in 2012, until a mid-March UCL tear caused his stock to drop all the way to the 15th round. The elbow didn’t hold up in pro ball, and he underwent Tommy John surgery and missed all of the 2013 season.

Injuries robbed him of much of his 2015 season, as well. When Borcuki came back with High A Dunedin in 2016, he was hit hard an often for Florida State League hitters, prompting a demotion to Low A, where he worked on adding some deception to his delivery, and refined his command.

The trials and tribulations Borucki experienced in his first 4 years of pro ball might have tempted some to call it a career, but he stuck with it. and two years after being sent to the lowest rung on the full season ladder, he’s on the cusp of making his MLB debut.

Oh owes Grichuk one of those famous 72oz steaks for that game-saving catch.

I'm glad I've kept watching this season. Disappointing one for sure, but moments like Grichuk's game-saving catch are priceless. And I love how guys in the dugout react to everything.

They're going to trade him, aren't they?

A Happ-level starter in his walk year has basically returned two good, but not elite starters. The Yankees will not be alone in trying to land Happ if he is arguably the best starter available. But the way the Yankees are structured gives them ammunition. For their area of organizational depth is now pitching.

Plus, Brian Cashman has in recent years used trades, including at the deadline, to preemptively address 40-man roster issues. The pruning has left the Yankees looking at less clutter this coming offseason. Except for one area: starting pitching.

Chance Adams, Josh Rogers, Justus Sheffield, Erik Swanson and Dillon Tate must be put on the 40-man roster this offseason or be vulnerable in the Rule 5 draft, and all but Tate (at Double-A) are already at Triple-A. Prospects Albert Abreu and Domingo Acevedo were added last offseason. The Yankees also must have on their 40: Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, Sonny Gray, Domingo German, Jordan Montgomery (who in the offseason has to be put back on the 40-man from his current 60-day DL designation), Jonathan Loaisiga and Luis Cessa.

Jays need more meat to toss in the grinder. Our rotation next year right now is Stroman and Sanchez. Garcia too if they pick up his option, which seems unlikely.

If it's true the Yankees are interested i would certainly hope the division thing gets put aside. Yankees are deep in pitching and the Jays could use a couple arms that a Happ trade would likely return to deepen their own. Good natural trade fit there.

That's all true... but it still won't help you feel less dirty when you realize that you're helping the ####ing Yankees.

But if you tell Happ to suck for the rest of the season then are you really helping the Yankees?

Yeah, helping yourself to some of their very solid pitching prospects haha.

I'm starting to wonder with Osuna being slated to come back in early August, if the Jays might actually be able to get some value for him in a trade? Still 3 years of team control and a proven high end reliever will be very attractive to a contending team with closer issues.

ArdenZwelling @ArdenZwelling
Per Blue Jays, Josh Donaldson has suffered a setback while rehabbing in Florida. Happened while he was taking ground balls. MRI revealed an acute strain of his left calf. He'll be reevaluated in three weeks.

Welp, that's that for any possibility of dealing JD for any kind of decent return.

Might as well just keep him now, give him his QO. He probably accepts it and tries to have a better year next year before hopefully cashing in. If he doesn't accept it we at least get a compensatory pick when someone else signs him. At least I think that's how it works right?

Charlie Morton just shredding the Jays tonight.

No hits and 8 strike outs thru 4

Still 0-0 though, hanging in so far.

SRF with 6.2 IP, 6 hits, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 SO

He could be the next pitcher we get a look at.

96 K's in 80 innings at AA and AAA this year

Not in the slightest, but i'm hoping in a year or 2 I can move past it when the return they could get is in the rotation beating said Yankees.

A guy can dream.

He should, but he should also take some lessons from it... he was giving up a lot of hard contact and a lot of balls in the air. They didn't really cost him this time out but he still needs to work on some stuff. Still good job kid, good job.
