Yup, moderate gap. Was not to bad other than the corksoaker driving along the gutter on Memorial soaking me. I was too distracted by the other idiot trying to make a U-turn at the 7th st pedestrian crossing to see him coming. Apparently it's moron driver day.

I've been trying to live by the rule that if it's nice out, and I've got time to ride, go for a ride. Too often I say "later" and Calgary's weather ruins it. Today paid off because I was able to get in 80km before the rain rolled in.

I did not find the ride home too bad. I had the wind pushing me and it was relatively warm. I was soaked though.
I noticed that my cheap Walmart bell tires have a very worn spot on them. I guess buying good tires is worthwhile.....

How are you feeling? Still have to do tomorrow?
Couldn't have been any better for the folks doing the Badlands Gran Fondo.

The wife and I rode the pathway out to chestermere this morning it is about 38k round trip from our house. It was a perfect morning for a long ride. Felt like I could have easily ridden another 40k

Got up early and got a 95k training ride on the roads in this morning. Beautiful conditions, nice change from last week.

Picked the worst day to start riding to work again.
The ride home was hell going west.

i wanted to go for a rip on my mtn bike last night, and figured witht hat wind, riding back on my planned route would not have been fun.
last two mornings i have been passed at bad spots by a roadie all kitted up who likes to ride in stealth mode - a quick "on your left" works if you don't want to deal with the extra 20 grams of fitting a bell to your bike

Is it worthwhile to patch a tube, or does everyone just toss them? I had a flat on the way in to work (thankfully about a block from the office), and when I replaced the tube with my spare, I managed to pinch it and it blew out.
The first flat was just a small slit in the tube, which I think looks fairly easy to patch, so I'm thinking I can salvage it and carry it as a spare (the pinched tube doesn't look like it can be patched easily).

I usually just toss them. I carry a patch kit, but that's only for emergencies when I run out of tubes on a ride.
If you patch it as a spare, you have to be careful where the patch ends up. With no air in the tube, it is going to have a different shape, maybe it gets a little bent and ends up leaking after sitting in your bag for 2 years.

I don't think it hurts. If you already have the patches it can save you a few bucks. It's also not a bad thing to practice if you do any longer rides and only have one spare with you.

I too carry a patch kit, but I find them to be hit and miss.
I’d suggest grabbing a couple of tubes from MEC if you can. They package them tightly and they hardly take up any space. I keep one in my seat bag along with all the other stuff I always carry, just in case.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll probably just pick up a few cheap MEC ones.
