The Als also have three in the same span - 2002, 2009, 2010. They're .500 in the big game.

The *barf* Riders have two since the millennium. And we all know why that is.

Esks: Three championships post-2000.

Argos: Two.

Bombers and Ticats haven't won this century, and the Redblacks obviously have 1.

The CFL is too small for this not to happen. If you're a good organization, you should cash in a championship every five years or so. If you suck, you don't. It's not like the Stamps had a bunch of physical freaks running roughshod over the league this year. When there are only nine teams, there aren't any secrets by the time you get to game #20. And while it's incredibly impressive that the Stamps are able to maintain the level of discipline and focus they do in the regular season, anyone can hold it together for a game at the end of the year.

It's a quirky league. Now stop letting them challenge penalties.
The ridiculous schedule also hurt the Stamps this year. A buy week to end the season? Absolutely ridiculous. The Stamps had 20 days off without playing a game at the end of the season. I fully believe without that layoff, they would have steam rolled the competition.

They did. They played the 2nd best team in the league right after that lay off and absolutely demolished the Lions without hardly breaking a sweat.

Then they go and lay an egg in the big game against an inferior team.

The Eskimos has the same thing happen in 2015. Three weeks between games, but they still beat the Stamps in the WF and then took care of business against Ottawa in the Grey Cup.

That makes re-signing Micah Johnson a huge priority now.

All the best to Beltre though going to that dumpster fire.

Same with the Bombers. The narrative before last year's resurgence is their fans have been suffering with losing football since they last won in 1990. But in reality, they were the best team in the league in the early 2000s during the Khari Jones years, and had a dynamic offence. I can't believe they never won a title, and lost the GC in 2001 to an 8-10 Stamps team.

I know I've already said this before on this board, but that's why I love that 2001 Stamps Cup so much; getting one back for all those years we blew it.

Calgary Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that the club’s entire coaching is returning for the 2017 season.

Man, we are pretty lucky as Stamps fans to have a such a quality guy as Huf at the helm. Sure, the last Grey Cup was disappointing as heck, but in my opinion, this is the flagship franchise of the CFL and it all starts with Huf and the stability and professionalism he has brought to the organization.

Absolutely, and it's far better than the alternative, like being the Bombers or Ti-Cats for instance. Sure would be nice to have them cement their legacy though with a playoff/championship record that mirrors their regular season success.

No brainer IMO -- these guys put in a phenomenal season that just fell short at the end.

Nobody can match Hufnagel's resume and what he brings in terms of experience. This is a guy who has worked with and under some of the best players, coaches, and organizations in pro football. Meanwhile, other teams are stuck with former CFL players who played for awhile and learned from other CFL players who have played for awhile, etc.

When we interviewed him a couple of years back, he pretty well stated that the best thing that he did was get NFL experience with good organizations and good head coaches that taught him how first class organizations work and coach and develop.

He also designed the Stamps front office to be extremely collaborative so a key piece leaving wouldn't devastate the organization.

so you might be the guy doing the scouting, but they've cross trained other people enough to be able to jump into your chair if you leave. there's no vacuum.

Frankly when Murph left the Rider fans and other fans thought that the Stamps would tumble in terms of bringing in players, but that didn't happen. Meanwhile Murph had a tough year in terms of finding the same kind of rough gems in Regina.

Dickenson inked a 3 year deal, he'll be here until 2020.

Quote:
The Calgary Stampeders and head coach Dave Dickenson have signed a three-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.

The deal keeps the Canadian Football League’s reigning AGF Coach of the Year in Calgary through the 2020 season.

I'd love to have Marquay back in a Stamps uniform, but I have a feeling his agent will be receiving more lucrative offers from other teams.

LAVERTU SIGNS NEW DEAL WITH STAMPS!

Quote:
The Calgary Stampeders have re-signed national offensive lineman Pierre Lavertu. The three-year veteran from Universite Laval had been eligible to become a free agent in February.

Lavertu has played 41 regular-season games and made 29 starts over three seasons with the Red and White. He was a West Division all-star at centre in 2015 as he helped the Stamps allow a league-low total of 33 sacks. Lavertu made eight starts at centre in 2016 before suffering a season-ending ankle injury.
http://www.stampeders.com/2017/01/24...w-deal-stamps/

Now we need McDaniel to be re-upped.

M. Johnson, SCC, Berger, Cote, D'Aguillar, Dennis, Love, Marquay are the guys hopefully Huff can get re-signed.

Lavertu is a big one, I thought he'd go home to Montreal. Now hopefully if he can stay healthy.

I have my doubts on the return of Cote and Joe West.

Glenn Love is 50 50 I think he's going to look at the market as is Mica
