I'm not going to wade into the discussion, but the content is not as clear as the headline.

The woman was indicted for manslaughter after being shot! Who the hell is threatened by a pregnant woman to the point they pull out their gatt and put five rounds into her??? Unless she was brandishing a weapon herself, this is insane. If she did have a weapon, she would have been charged with aggravated assault as well, so this seems really messed up.

I agree, this speaks more to American gun culture and gun laws than anything, but a woman being charged with manslaughter because she had a miscarriage after being shot FIVE times in the abdomen is criminal in itself. The United States is going to depths no one ever envisioned.

Kind of a random question, do you think if she fled the US and came to Canada that she would have grounds to be granted aslyum? If it was any country other than the US would she?

It's still ridiculous but she's not an innocent person either.

It really lacks any mention of what she did though. She could have been waving her hands in front of the lady like Sean Avery, or been stabbing her. Why don't any of the articles provide this bit of context.



The laws there are pretty draconian though and that fetus as a person is such a slippery slope. Not taking enough folic acid; cleaning the cat litter box is all child endangerment now?

The only good thing that could come of this is maybe this would kill the whole anti-vaxxer movement if it meant that not getting your kids vaccinated lead to a criminal charges if getting sick somehow lead to a miscarriage.
