Default Decent office printer

I have been charged with the glorious task of finding better printers for the office at work. We are currently using Brother HL-2040 printers. Nice and cheap but fail on a regular basis. You know they are starting to pack in when you get a paper jam light but no paper jams to find at all, drums seem to die frequently as well. The receptionist prints many lables through out the day and I think the adheisve from the labels may be gumming things up some on hers.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good office printer? We are looking for something that is small, affordable and easily placed on everyones desk. We do only black and white, not really high volume but not low either.

Thanks in advance.

The new goggles also do nothing.

Why not a network printer, easier to get one more expensive great quality printer than a bunch of small ones? And an actual label printer for reception?

Otherwise back when I did break fix stuff, rather than trying to repair those cheap desktop printers, once they had a problem just throw (or give) them away and replace it with a new one.

We tried the main network printer thing, didn't work out well and not overly practical in our enviroment/line of work. We all do a fair bit of printing and just need a decent desktop model for each desk that isn't going to cost an arm&leg.

The HP 2000 series fits your description.
