Las Vegas police have arrested a man in the deadly 1996 drive-by shooting of Tupac Shakur, a long-awaited break in a case that has frustrated investigators and fascinated the public ever since the hip-hop icon was gunned down on the Las Vegas Strip 27 years ago.
Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested early Friday morning, although the exact charge or charges were not immediately clear, according to two officials with first-hand knowledge of the arrest. They were not authorized to speak publicly ahead of an expected indictment later Friday.
Davis has long been known to investigators and has himself admitted in interviews and in his 2019 tell-all memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” that he was in the Cadillac where the gunfire erupted during the September 1996 drive-by shooting. Shakur was 25 when he was gunned down.
The arrest comes two months after Las Vegas police raided his wife’s home July 17 in neighboring Henderson. Documents said police were looking for items “concerning the murder of Tupac Shakur.”

It was likely a joke, but the reason they even know the story is that they got it in a deal for a huge drug arrest. I mean, the local police probably knew what happened basically right away, Compton PD for sure lol, but details and ability to prosecute is a whole different thing.

Yeah, he stomped out a gang member moments prior. It was obviously linked to that.
I thought the case was considered a few years back when some other gang member named Orlando Anderson was thought to be the shooter. He died in an unrelated event some time later. Heard they were sniffing around a new suspect a few weeks ago though, so I guess it was this guy.
Edit - Just read the article,Anderson is mentioned.

To be fair to the police, people who knew what happened, on both sides of the argument, weren't speaking, due to some street code. In the last few years, more and more people have started coming out with more details directly pointing the finger at Orlando Anderson.
This could get very interesting, considering Keefe stated that
Sean Combs, aka Puff Daddy/Puffy/Diddy put out a million dollar hit out.
That would seem like a happy coincidence for Keefe.
Orlando Anderson (Davis' cousin) assaulted a member of Death Row at a mall earlier. 2 Pac's people then assaulted Orlando in Vegas, and the shooting occurred directly after that.
The more interesting story I was hearing about was Combs killing Biggie, because Biggie wanted to leave his label.
Apparently Combs pulled back the security detail right before the shooting.

There's a huge rabbit hole of puffy/biggie/2pac connections and theories out there. I wasted way to much time going through as much as I could a while back. Always figured he had some kind of role or say in how it went down. Many of these guys surround themselves by this kind of violence and have the motto of live by the sword die by the sword. It was also likely it was some kind of beef that got out of hand.
I figured given puffy's status and riches, he's long out of reach by now, even if he had something to do with it.
